    Current cadets college life

As a mom of a 2014 cadet who is currently (and finally) home on leave and sleeping like a baby:smile:I always ask him this question to be sure he is confident in his choice. The answer is always a resounding "I am where I am supposed to be." Does he miss the freedom of civilian college...

When do coaches officially say you are a Recruited Athlete

You would receive a letter from the coach with the dates and itinerary for your stay, the name of the cadet that will be hosting you and the name of the hotel where you will be staying. I think it's the one near the airport. The paperwork will have names, numbers and emails in case of any...

    Questions Thread

I know Scout will answer better than I  but at this point in a CADETS career they do not need THIS (SERE) specialized training. If, and when they do, based upon what they branch, etc., the Army will provide it. Slow your roll, Son.....all good things in time.

    Questions Thread

You will be so busy lugging stuff around, changing bags, etc., so why not just give your parents bring/or ship it up on A day. Then you wont have to carry it around or worry about it getting damaged. Just a thought......

I'm sorry to hear that. Since it was off and on again, maybe more slots will open up. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your cadet.

    Airborne 3 Back on!

DS just got the call. Thank you all for your clarifications and support. That was my first loop (and not the last) in the roller coaster ride of WP. I think I am going to need medication to get through these 47 months!!

    Airborne 3 Cancelled

This is from the WP Parent Liasion: "So here is the scoop on Airborne - yes, there were slots lost for the next round of Airborne. They have been trying to push 500 give/take through each class. Keep in mind the majority of the students are active Army soldiers who have assignments which...

    Airborne 3 Cancelled

Just like that......cancelled due to budget cuts:thumbdown:.......a brief phone call a day before he was supposed to leave and now 3 weeks of nothing before Camp Buckner. Supposedly they are trying to find other options for the 500 or so cadets (mostly yuks) that got bumped, but the likelihood...

Summer Seminar 2011 Question. No a/c?

Yes, LOTS of sweating. Those are the same rooms that they would live in during Beast Barracks and as cadets. Last summer was one of the hottest on record and those cadets that were admitted sweated A LOT. It took a FEW WEEKS before they were allowed to get fans in their rooms. They survive...

    Socks for BCT

MY DS took black Under Armour compression shorts and colored in the logo with a black sharpie before he left. He was fine.:thumb:

    Direct Deposit

The direct deposit bank account is so your cadet pay can be deposited monthly. Monthly pay for the class of 2014 was $225 per month. You do want to get paid don't you???:shake::yllol:

    Oath Ceremony

Last year the cadets were on the plain by 6pm (if memory serves me correctly) and marching off by about 6:30 (if that late). By the time you got to your car, depending on where they have you park at, you could be leaving WP as early as 7 or as late as 8. There was a lot of traffic trying to...

    Route to West Point

If it wasn't for plebe net and the West Point Facebook page I don't know how I would have survived plebe year!!!:thumb: I spent summer nights looking for pictures of my cadet (also known as "Wheres Waldo) on Facebook. I was lucky to find quite a few!! Good luck to you and your...

Glasses (not sunglasses) at CBT/Academic Year

You will be issued those very attractive BCG's (aka Birth Control Glasses) for wear during Beast for safety reasons. No contacts. During the academic year you can wear your regular glasses or contacts or your BCG's if your so inclined!

    Thank you!

    USMA Separation

Scout, Since I first saw this post I was waiting for your take on the situation and as always you eloquently and intelligently make your point. What I didn't see (from anyone) was an answer to his question regarding his veteran status. Is he considered a vet after his separation? I read...

    Security forms & SSS

But by the time you turn 18 you will already be in the military. (My DS completed his security paperwork before he was 18, then turned 18 in May and went to R-day in June). So do you still have to register with selective service if you are already a member of the military??? I didn't think...
