NASS provided the attendees with 3 pair of mesh shorts. They were required to wear the issued shorts at all the activities. Any "extra" shorts you might bring would only be worn in your room, but are not necessary.

Long khakis are not needed. Whatever you wear on the plane will do just fine. Most of the kids arrived with khaki style shorts. Just make sure you tuck your polo shirt in, or they will remind you.
