    Decision Timeline

You will know when something shows up at your door, in your mailbox or in your portal. Tell yourself that the 'reveal' date is 1 May. You have another month to go. Keep faith. No one can tell you how long your case will take or which decision will be made. It gets harder to wait...but here we...

    Appointment Rescinded

I would not be worried about that. In the pantheon of things people can do--you were chosen by your nominating source (the president, your congressman, etc.) Do not worry about that. Pretty much you would need something legal not just a nasty email that says you are not a nice person...

    Is this true?

The Mission is NOT the Motto. The Motto is Duty Honor Country. The Supe sent a letter to Old Grads. The only people up in arms are the people who don't know that the motto was not added to the mission until the late 1990s. The mission changes over the years. The motto does not change. These news...

    NWL and 3Q Silence

There is no mass appointment notification--and during the week of Spring Break at USMA, traditionally there are not appointments made. Pretend that you are not on this webpage--and set your mind instead to: 'I will hear something from USMA by 1 May.' No one can help you read the tea leaves on...

Class of 2028 A Day parade

Now your child can be addressed properly as a cadet candidate. For A-Day...you do not see your plebe before the parade...so no need to get there super early on Friday...but definitely get to the viewing stands super early on Saturday so you can sit where you can see your kid. It is a great parade.

    Mass appointments/twe coming soon?

Appointments will continue to come out between now and 1 May. They slow down in late April. There will be a day in April when a ton of TWEs are sent out. However, if you do not receive a TWE, you are still in the running. The notification deadline is 1 May. There are no other tea leaves to...

    Plebe Psychiatric Diagnosis (Moderately Depressed)

The Army should be informed if your cadet is taking medications. Your cadet might wish to talk to the counselor who suggested that he meet with an outside provider--which is outside of the norm for TRICARE and for active duty service members. You might also wish to delete this thread. He or...

    SLE info.

I am so sorry...I am not sure I am understanding, is your kid a senior now? If so, his window of opportunity for SLE was for the summer before his or her senior year...ONLY. Does that help to answer your question?

Moving forward with plan B (ROTC) while waiting for SA

And that is tough...right...your kid needs to think: What do I want to do when I grow up? If he or she wants to fly jets--then he or she must go to USAFA. That one year of prep might seem like eternity--but it is not--it is a golden opportunity to grow and prepare --and frankly--spend one extra...

Moving forward with plan B (ROTC) while waiting for SA

Exactly...Maybe you lose the fees but it is a few hundred bucks for peace of mind and if you hear before 1 May, you can get the fees back. Also, your kid may decide he or she is completely fired up for A&M....where it is warm and they wear cool boots versus going to USMA where it is very cold...

Yes, accept everything else prior to the deadline...buy the t-shirt and continue waiting.

    Appointment Question

There really is not one. There is a gap the week of Spring Break--the admissions committee does not meet. It really starts to taper off in early April--but there will be a day when a ton of TWEs are sent out...but if you do no have one, you are still in the mix.

    Application Open?

You provide the email address in the USMA portal. USMA reaches out directly to the teacher. The teacher does not provide the official recommendation to the student. (However, they may be necessary for nomination packets with the Senators and Congressman). Your student may wish to also inform...

    Application Open?

Also, you should be able to look for your nomination sources: Senators, Congressman, Vice Presidential, and if it applies to your family the Presidential. Know the deadlines...so that he can work on the essays and assembling the material during the summer.

    Application Open?

He has already taken that step. During the summer sometimes it is July, other times it is sooner, he will be able to 'see' the rest of the application in his portal...unless he is a poor candidate--but that is not your kid, he is accepted to SLE. At SLE they teach the kids about the...
