    The Citadel

Similar, hardly. Charleston is a large metropolitan area in a semi tropical climate, Norwich is a small town in New England with a much colder climate and lots of snow in the winter. The Citadel has a significantly larger Corps of Cadets and the only non cadet full time students are a few...

    Citadel Application Deadline

last years class had a 73% acceptance rate but I wouldn't count on a non grad for accurate or objective information. Classes typically fill by early to mid March so if you are a high school senior who has not yet applied you need to do it immediately if not sooner

    Stolen Valor caught on video

this is not only disgusting and pathetic, its also now a federal crime. People will do whatever they are allowed to get away with so in my view these dbags need to be humiliated and shouted down at every opportunity; once a few of them get thrown in jail or get their butts whipped by a mob this...

    TCU vs Ole Miss

another 'I told you so', TCU obviously deserved to be in the playoff more than FSU

    College Bowl

Florida State is greatly overrated and played just well enough to pull out a win in many of their games. The first big problem is that the polls are grossly biased in favor of 'glamour' programs and no doubt the selection committee was also biased in favor of certain schools. FBS needs a...

    Tulifinny sesquicentennial

Your 'historian' doesn't know his very well. VMI may have been called to service multiple times but their corps only fought in one engagement, the SCMA corps ('Battalion of State Cadets') fought in 8 engagements. Both schools received state authorized battle streamers because they were state...

    Questions About Comissioning.

People are overlooking the fact that commissioning opportunities are tied to the number of slots given to each program; each ROTC unit is given a yearly quota of AD commissions and once filled there are no other chances unless someone wants to apply to OCS, with tighter budgets and another...

    Tulifinny sesquicentennial

contrary to popular myth the entire corps was not present at New Market, 247 of 280 cadets participated with the remainder as guards on campus. See the following link to VMI archives http://www.vmi.edu/archives.aspx?id=6271

    Tulifinny sesquicentennial

December 6 - 9 marks the 150th anniversary of the Civil War Battle of Tulifinny when the 343 man Corps of Cadets from the South Carolina Military Academy (now The Citadel), AKA The Battalion of State Cadets joined 550 Confederate troops in defending a key railroad bridge at Tulifinny Creek near...

    VMI and the Citadel

there has been considerable discussion at The Citadel about granting in state rates or at least some kind of discount to military families and veterans, many alumni also wonder why they cant get a break on the out of state tuition for their children. Unfortunately with state support at only 8%...

Why Women Do Not Belong in the U.S. Infantry‏

as a retired Army Officer who served with many outstanding female comrades I have no problem allowing women to serve in any billet they are qualified for; the reality is that few will ever qualify for infantry slots but if some can hack it more power to them. The unfortunate truth is that...

    Silver Shako still in Charleston

Not exactly a defensive struggle; Cid couldn't stop the pass and VMI couldn't stop the run. Cobb is a very talented QB who has the potential to be one of the best in FCS but they could use more balance in the running game. I would question the logic of having scrapped the triple option since...

    hazing

I agree with clueless parent, as has been stated more recently if parents did today what many of ours did in the way of 'discipline' they would be in jail for child abuse. We are more enlightened now about the evils of physical abuse which of course have no place in any setting and standards of...

    Silver Shako still in Charleston

The Citadel wins "The Military Classic of the South" for the eighth straight time and ninth in the last eleven meetings defeating VMI 45-25 to retain possession of the Silver Shako Trophy. Bulldogs lead the series 24-10 which was inaugurated in 1976.

    hazing

and of course the media is entirely fair and accurate with their stories, the P&C has been notorious for regularly printing sensationalized and exaggerated stories about hazing, some of which were later proven to be less than true. All military schools and fraternities have their bad apples who...

and of course there isn't the slightest chance he may be exaggerating or making it up. See my previous comment.

    hazing

it happens but its definitely isolated. Most of the stories you will here are either grossly exaggerated or outright false; as with all things be extremely skeptical of anything you read on social media or hear from others.
