    Stuff to bring on I-Day

A suggestion You might need the Encyclopedia, since you won't have the Internet, but since it might make bags too heavy if each appointee brings a whole set, just bring the volume that starts with the same letter as your last name. There should be a pretty even distribution of volumes across...

    Drury Inn?

I was just at the COS Airport this morning to pick up DH. There were cadets there waiting on appointees to arrive, AOG reps and other Academy personnel and a booth set up with signs for new appointees to check in. I'm sure your son will see them and be taken care of.

    Cash Needed?

Other than the paperwork . . . I'm assuming you're not asking about the paperwork list in the Appointee Instructions (+ several medical forms, SGLI, shot records, Emergency Data, travel receipts). For some there was a question about the Tattoo form. Are you sure they received it? If not...

    Very Sad...more assaults

Be Informed This is the best advice. Also, be informed. Here is a link to information covering prevention of sexual assault. DDs should know what to do in the event something does happen. As leaders, they will need to advise underclass females at USAFA and later females on AD. Know what to...

Just a Note to all the New USAFA Cadets

Thank You DDog, Thank you for the wonderful note. I gave it to my DS to read -- made him smile. Good to know USAFA cadets maintain friendships with cadets from the other SAs. Thanks again, YM

    Thanksgiving Leave

Put the Calendar Away Jeez, guys, I stress about things too, but put the calendar away! I am doing my best to savor each day until 28 June. Then I want to take in I Day and the Swearing In Ceremony so I keep those memories in my heart. I will plan for Acceptance Day and Parent's Weekend, and we...

    <3weeks 'til Iday

Some suggestions: Spend time with your parents, play xbox too much, sleep in once-in-awhile, eat pizza and see a movie, play angry birds (or whatever), read a book or two, go shopping and buy something you don't need, look around - look all around, eat big bites, leave your shirt untucked...

do we have to become AOG members?

We decided to give our son AOG membership as a gift, and we joined webguy. If we have to eat hotdogs and beans and give up other expenses to fly out for PW, football games, and fly DS home, then we will. I think we will save a lot of money without DS at home to eat all our groceries...

Ideas for graduation gifts for Basic Cadets

Our DS appreciated money, so he could have some fun with his high school friends before departing for I Day. We also gave him a new cell phone. His previous phone was an older model, and although he'll have to give up the new one during BCT, he still wanted it. I guess he'll look forward to...

Parent's Weekend - buy football tickets for parents?

Thanks Thanks CC and MikeandCris for the info and video. We look forward to Thudgate at Parents' Weekend, and all the other football games we're able to make it to. Even though there'll be other tailgates, we will want to be at Thudgate for the toast.
