The Everything Drawer - Everyone has one, right? (post anything - within the rules)

Pretty much every meeting I’ve sat through for the past 34 years rolled into a 4-minute video.

Anticipating a DQ for Spondylolysis. What can I do?

Each case will be different so you will not know until you go through the process. In my daughter’s case, she was DQ’d, waivers requested for USNA and USAFA, but both waivers were denied.

Mr. Speaker !!! The President, of the United States

Sort of related to this so I throw it in here. I found out that my oldest offspring was flying ONE CAP over DC the other evening during the state of the union address. I don’t know what he is doing most of the time but he mentioned it in a conversation. Pretty cool to know.

    Vice Presidential Nomination

I would expect many Presidential appointments are awarded early in the process because many of those high-WCS candidates are the “easy border pieces” of the admission puzzle. A Presidential nom is the easiest to clear. I would also postulate that most of those candidates are not on this forum...

    Disqualifying CFA scores

Make sure that you actually do some practice runs of the whole CFA. Practicing each event separately is fine, but you also need to figure out how you do with all the events in order. The exertion of the first events can heavily influence your mile time if you aren’t prepared.

Help! My parents don't want me to be a pilot after graduation. How do I convince them otherwise?

I use my parental flight benefits so often that the American Airlines gate agents in ATW know me by sight and I don’t even need to check in for my standby seat because they just mark me as present. 😁

R250.4 - Pending waiver review by USAFA

Pending waiver review means that the information is being looked at to decide if the AF will pursue a waiver. It does not mean that a waiver has been requested. If they deem you a competitive candidate then they will request a waiver and you will be notified. There is no “standard” length of...

    Parent Clubs

WAFAPA, the Wisconsin parent’s club, sponsors an orientation day in early June for appointees to ask question of a cadet and for new parents to ask questions of other parents before I-Day. Parents and candidates are addressed together, and then separated so that appointees can ask question of...

    Medication Rebuttal

Mostly, DQs are not for the medication itself, but for the underlying medical condition that is causing the need for the medication. Has the underlying condition been addressed?

Study Abroad and semester exchange programs USAFA

There are a lot of different language travel opportunities. My son was a Spanish minor and did a 3-week program/conference at the Spanish Air Force academy that had dozens of countries’ Air Force cadets attend. It was over spring break his junior year. In the past decade and a half since, he has...

Changing Drivers license, car plates/ registration/ insurance in each PCS/ TDY move, or not? Thoughts?

Son got Texas residency at his first duty station and kept it for his whole AD career (originally from tax-happy Wisconsin). There is no need for a PO Box because the law allows you to keep any legitimate residency for as long as you are on active duty. He’s switched it to Florida now that he is...

Important matters concerning the existence of Humanity - BACON

I wasn’t sure if this should go in the dad joke thread or this one. However, bacon needed a boost, and if you think about it, it’s a pretty serious matter.

Classes or tips to take to get in?

Your competition for a nomination and an appointment is going to have AP classes, sports, team captain, JROTC, high test scores, and maybe even band, too. So the answer to “Would the Naval academy like 4 years and the commitment of band or me taking assorted AP classes such as AP psycology or...
