This was after my time...what is a wing round robin? Kurt

    Graduation tossing of caps tradition.

Based upon this link (near the bottom), the "tradition" started with the USNA in 1912. http://www.brownielocks.com/graduation.html Kurt

Noticed the changeover in format. I'm having trouble seeing what's changed...there are no status icons to show when new posts have been written. Is that something I control on my end? I see you've gone away from vBulletin and to Xenforo. Kurt

    Weight limit for T38??

In my work, I'm involved with putting flight data recorders on T-38s. Once my equipment is added, they have to recompute the most forward and most aft center of gravity to ensure the aircraft is within limits. They do this on a Form F. I happen to have a set from a number of years ago showing...

    Graduate in 4-1/2 Years?

OK, makes sense. I don't remember these sorts of things when I was there. But I suppose the world has gotten more complicated. Thanks...Kurt

    Graduate in 4-1/2 Years?

Does anyone know why these 5 cadets graduated a semester late? http://www.military.com/daily-news/2013/12/30/final-five-join-2013-class-at-air-force-academy.html?ESRC=airforce-a.nl Kurt

    Age Specifics

If that is what it says, then if your 23rd birthday was on July 1, you would not have passed it yet. If your 23rd birthday was on June 30, then on July 1 you would be in a situation where your 23rd birthday has passed. Kurt

    Altimeter Check

Steve - Correct...not a big deal issue. But...I was just disheartened by a "tradition" being changed. I learned that my altitude was 7250. Beginning in 1976, everyone learned 7258. Kind of changes the meaning of tradition. If was not a big issue, why even change it at all? And since...

    Altimeter Check

I know this forum is more about what's happening today, but I thought I'd provide the rest of the story as I've been able to figure out. I've had discussions with the AOG office but they didn't really provide any more info than I already had. I mentioned at the beginning, that the "altitude"...

    Altimeter Check

Actually, the NED shows the stadium around 6600 feet. The last time I was there, I seem to recall that the number 7250 is written into the walls of the stadium...I can't confirm that, but thought I saw it. Clearly, the stadium is well below that number...but 7250/7258 is so much more...

    Altimeter Check

Still no resolution to this change...I realize no one else is really interested! I decided to check the USGS National Elevation Data...they have a map which lets me hover the mouse over any spot which gives the elevation. For the terrazzo, the elevation is right around 7150 feet. The...

    Altimeter Check

To further confuse the issue, this recent orientation sheet for the Class of 2014 mentions the altitude of the Academy as 7,250 feet. See the second page under "Climate". http://www.usafa.edu/superintendent/cma/AppointeeOrientation2010Web.pdf

Thanks, Mike...I think! I was hoping to find someone who was there at the transition and might have asked the same questions. At least I would have...

    Altimeter Check

I did some searching but couldn't find much on the subject. I've been wondering when and why the altitude changed from 7,250 feet to 7,258 feet. Did the Academy get higher or did West Point and Annapolis sink?? :shake: It was always 7,250 feet for me. I heard about the 7,258 number about...
