    Midshipman life insurance?

Going through the Permit to Report package and was wondering what the general consensus is on the life insurance offered. an earlier seach on the forum seems to support it but here are some other factors that apply to DS that might warrant another thought. DS is 18 and single. no dependents...

    Are 5 colleges really required?

I was unable to find this answered elsewhere but I apologize if it is.... The NROTC site says applicants are "asked" to apply to five schools (one being in-state). Question: is this a hard number? can someone apply to say 3 (one of which is in-state) and not do the other two? let's assume...

    Valid Plan B?

This is the key point. He does have a USNA appoitment but NROTC scholarship would be Plan B. Thanks!!!

    Valid Plan B?

Thanks to all for your input. To clarify a couple of points, he does have a plan C already which is to go to a Univ without a ROTC scholarship -- and as mentioned, he could join ROTC as a non-scholarship. He is not worried about injury -- just his dad is. He wants to play...

    Valid Plan B?

I'm looking for someone to validate or invalidate DS's thinking on a Plan B. Assuming he get's his appointment to USNA and that's clearly his first choice (which he will accept), does it make sense to go through the process to apply for NROTC too? The fear/risk is that he'd sustain some injury...

    Drug allergy

Got the OK today on both the drug allergy (no issue) and the separated shoulder (no issue). DoDMERB asked for a paper form to be filled out describing what, if any, lingering issues there are. Actually this info was previously supplied on the original medial form. oh well. that's the...

    Drug allergy

Update:we have found out that the drug allergy is not an issue, as hoped for. However, a separated shoulder injury 3 years ago from football is now the item DODMERB is seeking more info on. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

    Drug allergy

Thanks for the advice. it was fully disclosed on the questionaire. we'll see, but it looks hopeful that it won't be an issue.

    Drug allergy

My son has an alergy to Amoxicillin. Anyone know if that will be an issue for DODMERB? there are so many other anti-biotics around now that it's never been an issue through 18 years.

    2017 LOAs reporting

LOA received today Son received LOA today in mail. Dated Sept 17. He's very excited. BTW, the DODMERB website does not reflect this. Everything for his app finally got in Aug 29. He did NASS and took CFA there, not maxing out on anything. only 6 pull ups if I remember correctly but solid...

Is Lobbyist input helpful or hurtful?

I realize this question is a little "out there" but I don't know where else to get opinions. As it has become more well known in our neck of the woods that DS will be trying to go to USNA, two friends have offered to ask Lobbyists they know to put in a good word for DS to our MoCs. Sounds...

    1st admission board and LOAs

I hesitate to ask... I did not know this....how could this be true? if they aren't charged to the MOC, to where are they charged? if that's SecNav, he takes all of them? and then you get into the limitation that a MOC can only have 5 midshipmen at any one time. I wouldn't think...

    Obtaining Nom from another MoC?

but what about appointments? Thanks to all for the responses to the original question on nominations. It's pretty clear that all nominees must come from the districts of those nominating them. But what about the appointments? Can those be "shared"? In other words, we know there's the...
