    For Those Denied Admissions

I received my QNS letter on Monday afternoon, which was followed by some of the most miserable hours of my life. I had decided that I was going to West Point when I was six, and had worked my hardest every day of my life to make that happen. Why, then, didn't I make it? It's been a tough few...

    Important New Information

Are all appointments now being given to kids on the NWL? And I'm assuming the numbers given are all to date with the most recent acceptances as of last Tuesday, since the official announcement went out Wednesday.

    Any tips for day visit

Sorry, I don't know a more techsavy way to go about this; here is the copy of the Sample Resume that I received from my FFR during my application process. Hope it helps you to understand what exactly USMA is looking to know! Candidate Name (First Name, Middle Initial, Last Name) Candidate ID...

USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

Your nominating source doesn't have to call, ever. I'm actually not expecting a call from my congressman because he wasn't the one to nominate me, his predecessor was. So you won't necessarily get a call. They send out letters on Thursdays, so I go mailman hunting Saturday-Tuesday, and then they...

    Multiple Nomination Question

There is almost never a need to tell a congressman or senator that you received a nomination from the other; they keep in contact with each other, especially if you are in a particularly competitive state. My Senator seemed ready to give me a nomination, but then I was called and told "Oh, we...

USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

Sorry, I'm a nervous wreck in my waiting... I'm assuming another wave of appointments went out on March 7th; would anyone be able to confirm this, and say how many was in this wave?

    SLS/SLE Advice

Agreed. By the third day, my roommates and I were washing our stuff in the sink to make sure we didn't wear the same stinky t-shirts the rest of the week.

    SLS/SLE Advice

I'd personally recommend picking classes you'd be interested in pursuing at the academy (I hope those are the ones you enjoy, but whatever floats your boat). You can get a lot of really valuable information about how different majors work, especially if you are interested in things that you...

Technology at usma.. laptop, calculator etc.

Would it be considered suspicious if I brought my own, personal laptop after A Day, with the wireless hotspot etc? I was planning on using two separate computers to make sure I can always differentiate between work and not-work XD I wouldn't have anything inappropriate on my "play" computer, I...

    Rejection Letters

Don't give up hope, 'cause I'm certainly not :D they're sending out somewhere between 1300 and 1500 appointments, and, to our best estimate, they still haven't sent out more than 800. I know this is tough, but I am right here besides you, waiting it out. If you're not getting in, I don't...

    7 Semester Transcript

I'd highly recommend getting them in and contacting your FFR ASAP. You need 7th semester transcripts to be considered by admissions, according to an email I got from USMA a few weeks ago. The email is, word for word, as follows: "IMMEDIATE ATTENTION REQUIRED Now is the time to send your 7th...

    Next Wave

I asked my FFR and she said that, historically, the second wave is sent out about 2 weeks after the first. I also saw someone else that said that it is coming out sometime next week. Nothing has been pinned down or announced officially, so there isn't much more I can contribute. I am right...

    2012 SLS

@ Art.Perea Yeah, we had a good time XD I loved the Roughriders' chants, as well as the various back-and-forth between the platoons.

    2012 SLS

First session, 5th Platoon (the other gray meat), 2nd Squad. Sorry for Party Rocking :3 Ohmygosh, I hope kids from my squad are hearing happy news soon.

Can I be cautiously happy over this email?

Feel free to be optimistic, but don't think it in any way a guarantee. It's easy to be over-qualified for USMAPS in academics, but still not good enough to be admitted to West Point based on say, leadership or athletics. I'm not saying this is the case for your specific file, it is just a...

    Occupying time during wait...

Working out. I'm probably going to hurt myself in the next week, but I just keep throwing myself at exercise. The worst thing ever is if I don't get anything next week; I need to know, one way or the other. I want this waiting game to be over.

    Official Correspondence on App

Got it too, and I'm not any type of special person. I expect that will be updated on the 26th and we'll get an envelope whenever we get an envelope XD

    February 26th

Okay, thanks so much everyone. I saw a post somewhere that said only recipients of Primary Congressional and Presidential Nominations would receive notification next week, while the 150+ kids pulled off the NWL won't hear back for a longer period of time. Big numbers is what I'm most concerned...

    February 26th

So, just for clarification's sake, no one (or next to no one) will be hearing back from West Point any LATER than the 26th? Like, it won't be in past years where some qualified kids are sitting on the waiting list until June 23rd and then find out "Oh, I need to show up for R-Day!" ?

    Count Down!

I've been counting down the days since late December (and driving everyone I love nuts in the process), but here's where it really gets hard. This whole waiting period will be a blur when the class of 2017 reports for R-Day on July 1st, but it certainly doesn't feel that way now.
