    NASS. Still haven't heard anything

NASS acceptances aren't really a good indicator of whether or not you'll get in. I'm from a pretty competitive area and got in off the waitlist for NASS, but a pretty quick LOA after putting in my application in the early fall. A huge number of my midshipman friends didn't get NASS slots at all...

What to Work On For Reapplication

Agreed with the commenters above. Many of the best midshipmen I know and work with didn't get in here on their first try, including the fall brigade commander. Keep adding to your record and give it your best shot on the next round.

    Lesser known sports at Navy/possibilities

Absolutely. Sports period over PS is quite helpful in figuring out if you want to get involved with rowing or not. As far as I know it's still an option. One of my 2/C friends has worked with the football team as a trainer year-round since her plebe year and absolutely loves it.

    Playing two sports at USNA

Agreed with the others, depends on both the Varsity and the Club sport. I know someone who plays Varsity Soccer in the fall and Varsity Lacrosse in the spring, and they've made it work despite the fact both teams spend a lot of time working out out of season as well. Some Varsity coaches are...

    Wristwatch Rules

GoNavy's got it. Worst thing about PS in my opinion was not having a watch. During the Ac Year you can wear whatever sort of watch you want, as long as its a muted color. Black/Gray/Navy are good, but fluorescent orange is not. Gold and Silver are also ok.

    Lesser known sports at Navy/possibilities

Both rowing and sailing have plenty of folks who start out with zero experience prior to plebe summer. Over plebe summer there is a sports period most days where you will have the opportunity to try out either of these sports if you continue to be interested.

    college freshmen re-applying

I wouldn't worry about it. I am personal friends with plenty of Mids who went to college (or a Foundation or Prep school other than NAPS) for a year (or more) before getting into USNA. I would say your chances are even with (or maybe even better than) any high school senior going for a spot...

    Bed bugs at USNA

The reason the bed bugs are spread so widely throughout Bancroft is that bed bugs were found in a football locker room, and the football players unintentionally spread it to their rooms and the rooms around theirs. As far as I've heard the administration is ahead of the game on all this, but...

Please help with my plan as a non-citizen

It certainly works. One of my roommates was born in South America and moved to the US when she was nine. She enlisted in the Navy after graduating from high school, and became a citizen right after boot camp I believe. We're now both plebes here at USNA, though she's a couple years older than I am.

    Validation of credits

That's the case. I'm a plebe who validated both semesters of Chem, a semester of Calc and 4 semesters of Spanish. I'm a semester ahead in Calc, meaning I will be done with my core math requirements a semester early. By validating Chem I was able to take both plebe social studies classes (Naval...

    Labtops

Don't bother, you won't be able to use it. The issued laptop (which I'm using right now) covers what you need for school and is authorized to use the USNA network, which your personal device isn't. You could save your photos here or on the issued external hard drive, and at least as a plebe you...

In my essay, should I say "I want to attend the USAFA or just service academy?

You can go either way, however if you are truly looking for a nomination to any of the academies, my recommendation would be to explain first why you want to go to a service academy, and then why USAFA is your top choice. By doing this you demonstrate that your first priority is to serve, and...

    Letters of Recommendation

For the USNA application, only send additional letters of recommendation if they present something that isn't really shown otherwise in your application. Just having another teacher or family friend who is a retired officer write you a letter probably won't help, and just gives them more paper...

    Pro-Knowledge Tests

Pro-Knowledge Tests are weekly quizzes on several pages worth of Academy or Navy-related information. Each week has a different topic, this year the first was Military Customs and Courteseys, as well as Notable Graduates. The next week's was US Navy and Marine Corps uniforms. The Brigade...

Cvw invitations for summer seminar attendees?

Very true statement. I'm currently a plebe who attended NASS and CVW, and my home is only an hour away from USNA. I was originally waitlisted for NASS and I didn't get a CVW invite until late-December if I remember correctly. I think they actually didn't send me an invite until I had already...

    USNA Company Assignment 2017

I've heard that the letters containing 2017's assignments were sent out today, though this was through the grapevine. I would guess that that was likely was the catalyst for those asking current MIDN for the information.

    Application Help

I seem to recall mine as fairly brief, a description of how all my ancestors had come over long before Ellis Island or something along those lines, as I too am 100% white.

    Plebe Summer Ladies' Hair

I've heard from everyone I've met that it's a good plan for the females to get their hair cut within plebe summer regulations prior to I-day. Is there a specific style that would be recommended for the cut to be in, ( or to avoid) other than short enough to not touch your collar all summer and...

    SAT Subject Test

I took SAT Subject tests because other schools I applied to required them, however as far as I know they were not at all considered as a part of my application. In the Candidate Information System (the online module that has all of the application information) though it contained my normal SAT...

    NASS Clothing Selection Help

Agreed on all counts. The t-shirts and sweatshirt are pretty much the same size as any other unisex t-shirt you might get from an trip/event/team order etc. The dri-fit shirt is a bit looser, but not a whole size worth. I actually wore mine to practice today. The shorts are also about the same...
