    Girls State

Be yourself and think before you speak, as first impressions go a long way. I don't know how it is for your girls state, but for mine, I showed up, made friends, wrote bills, was willing to volunteer, spoke my ideas clearly, and respectfully listened to others points of view. I didn't have...

    Tape Test

I'm a female reporting to c/o 2019 in a couple weeks, and I am about 3 pounds below my weight limit after a significant amount of weight loss. I realize I could possibly be over the weight limit on R-Day if they were to round down my height. I had to take the tape test to gain admission and...

    Classes for junior year 2015/16

A science course? Unless you have taken all the science courses at your high school, AP Physics or AP Chem would be a good choice.

    Letters of Recommendation

USMA doesn't require LOR from coaches, although your congressman might for nominations. I know for my congressman we were required to have 2 LOR from a coach, teacher, principle, or counselor.

    1 on AP exam?

Question about AP scores. College Board was a bit misleading when it said we could pick and choose scores to send, and I sent all my AP scores to West Point before I realized what I had done. I scored 3 and 4's on all my exams (Calc, Lit, and Euro) but one, I got a 1 on an exam last year...

    SLE

I got rejected from SLE and ultimately got an appointment to WP. I went for an overnight last month and thought it was a much better experience than the Summer Seminar I went to at Air Force. Don't fret about not getting into SLE.

    Homeschool Candidates - What Documentation

I was homeschooled Freshman-Junior year. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. I was was part of an organization, and since they provided an academic transcript, I didn't need to provide any sort of course descriptions. I would highly recommend Boys State as well. I went to...

What % of midshipmen were rejected Summer Seminar

I got accepted to NASS, got my second TWE for my second attempt at the academy yesterday. I got rejected from West Points SLE, got accepted to the Academy in January.

    still waiting

Received my TWE today dated April 8th. Although I accepted my WP appointment back in January, it was weird going 6 months without hearing a word from Navy after completing my app (besides the transcript) back in November.

    C/D in Modern Physics

No, I'm taking Calc, Chem, English, History, and Econ, my grades are fine, but I have an exam that's worth 60 percent of my grade coming up, so I discussed outcomes with my RC at West Point, and she said as long as I get A's and B's with maybe a C I should be fine, but if I got a D in one of...

    C/D in Modern Physics

For West Point I was told if I got a D they would have to rereview my application. I'm assuming AFA is similar. Since you are already taking Calc 2 and a Physics class, it might be better to withdrawal.

    Still nothing today.

    Still on the island thread

Haven't heard ANYTHING from USNA yet. Starting to get a little worried.

    C/O 2019 Mailbox Stalkers

Still have heard no news from USNA... I received my TWE last year early march... I hate to get hopeful since I would consider myself to be fairly average compared to some of the others stats.

    SLE

Got denied from SLE about 4 weeks after I submitted my app, but I'll be reporting for R-Day in June. Don't read to much into an acceptance or declination.

    Personal Internet Access

The cadets I talked to on my overnight said that it was worth the 10 extra dollars to have the extra internet. I was thinking about opting out as well, but apparently if you don't opt in you won't be getting much besides blackboard and outlook.

    Your son/daughter goes where???

I actually had a guy at a recruiting office ask me: "So you got the West Point scholarship! Congrats! What school are you going to school with it?!" Uh, West Point ;) And this guy was an army recruiter too...

    TWE notice??

No, at least not until later in the year. My 2018 profile was up until July or August, at which point my FFR had to call to switch it over to 2019 so I could reapply.
