    NASS

I am currently a detailer for Summer Seminar and class of 2017. From what we were told really good evaluations will help. Conversely, poor evaluations will hurt. The candidates that were given average evaluations will neither help nor hurt.

    Becoming a Candidate & LOR

People who can talk about you besides how you did in the classroom. Someone who you have a good relationship with. Pick a teacher who can say more about you than your grade in a class. Coaches can be a good choice too.

    Shellfish Allergy

I was DQ'ed by DODMERB for a shellfish allergy. USNA gave me a waiver though. I thought it was pretty funny when they served shrimp for lunch on my CVW. From research I've done most food allergies besides peanuts are waived

    Religion

My private school requires 4 years of religion as well. I don't think it will have too much of an effect because colleges look mostly at the core classes(math, science, foreign language, english, and history).

    What are my chances?

Yes a nomination is required for an appointment. Subject tests are not viewed by admission. Neither is SAT writing. about 90% of each incoming class plays a varsity sport so although it will be challenging to get appointed it is possible.

My squad leader was able to take me to the mid store after the week was over. This is not a common occurrence though.

    choosing sizes for NASS clothing

Last year I had all larges which fit pretty well. But your sweatpants are going to get wet and sandy so they will be falling down no matter what. Putting the draw strings around my neck worked pretty well.

    Value Of NASS

I attended NASS last summer. I have heard that it doesn't affect your chances on admission to the academy itself but at the end your squad leader fills out an evaluation form for your application. And I doubt admissions counts that evaluation for nothing.
