    Officer Career Starter Loan Question

This is all terrific information and much-appreciated! My USMMA 2/C just applied for the USAA loan (which, interestingly, is currently at half the interest rate of NFCU's) and we were debating over how much to take out. At this moment he only needs enough to pay off his rings, and for some...

    Remedial with no code

Just to add - and I still think this is strange - DS had "Remedial" listed on DODMERB and he never got a letter at all!! Instead he was called by the medical exam office and told him they'd forgotten to ask him some questions. They wanted him to come back in, but when he said we live more than...

    Cell phone at Kings Point

FYI - reception can be iffy on campus and they often have to go outside the barracks to get a good signal. Sometimes it depends on what side of the hall IN the barracks! We have AT&T but I think it's the same for all carriers... Still, it's very good to hear their voice on Sundays.

QBsdad, DS is Class of 2018 and we live outside of St. Louis. There are two others from MO in his class (Springfield and Ft. Leonard Wood). Good luck!

    Actual Cost at USMMA

Powderhorngreen, you've got it covered and well-put. I think that the estimated expenses can look a bit shocking to anyone who is expecting their child to receive a "free" Government education (which is definitely the perception for the other schools), but the cost of fixed expenses and...

    where are 2018's from?

St. Louis, MO checking in! DS received his appointment letter and phone call from MOC yesterday - nothing like the last minute! Did not receive his BFE (whatever that is, I don't even know yet what that stands for - but assuming the "FedEx letter") but we are expecting shortly...

Got the good news this morning!

Hello, All - I guess I need to change my screen name to DEFINITEMidMom because DS is now a Principal, too! He is SUPER excited and so are we parents. As far as how he found out, he got a phone call from our MOC, and got a letter in the mail about an hour later. We did not get our...

    CFA Administrator question

Thank you very much for all the advice! I will tell DS we have to be super-careful with the email addresses - ugh, that would be lousy to fix. He's going to ask the school principal, who knows and likes him, which PE teacher he should approach. I hope that will give him more confidence about the...

    CFA Administrator question

Hi, All- DS is dragging his feet on doing his CFA. I'm certain it's because he's afraid he won't do well, even though he has been practicing and working out. He was unable to do more than two pull-ups last spring and now can do eight, so there's definitely been improvement! At any rate...

    The "Adversity" Question

Hi, DS is working on his application, and is wrestling about what to do with the "adversity question." From what I've read on here, it looks like the Academy is looking for extenuating circumstances which would help explain lower grades, lack of participation in extracurriculars, etc. DS...

    CVW as Junior = Good?

I knew if I came here I'd find an answer to my question! My DS did not get into NASS but was offered CVW, which he WILL be attending at the end of this month. I thought this was probably a good sign so glad to see folks here agree. The letter regarding NASS said something about geographic...

PAST Allergic Drug Reactions (Penicillin, Morphine) - No good?

Encouraging news! I wanted to report this for the sake of anyone else in the same boat. I was able to reach A Live Human at DoDMERB right away, to my astonishment (there a lot of companies that could take and example from THAT kind of customer service). I gave him a rundown of my son's...

Thank you Thank you both for the replies. I will try to find the DoDMERB HelpDesk phone number and will definitely give them a call.

PAST Allergic Drug Reactions (Penicillin, Morphine) - No good?

Hi, I apologize if this question is covered elsewhere but my search didn't bring up what I needed. To fill you in on Son's allergy history: Son had a severe reaction to penicillin (Amoxicillin, specifically) when he was 16 mo. old - definitely anaphylaxis, not just angiodema. His throat was...
