    Major DODMERB Confusion

Yup, that was a while ago, BUT....he was not DQed for anything at that point. He was however, medically disenrolled this past January for seizures. I have a post about that floating around here someplace.

    Norwich 2021

Get in shape! If you go on the Norwich.edu site, search packing list, and there is a list of what to bring and what not to bring. It may or may not be updated for your year yet, but will give you an idea of what you need. Boots (not sure if it will still be the Desert Tan, or the new Army color)...

    Always have your Plan B

CJS - Thank you for that information. So far the only accomodations he has really needed involve being up all night/not getting enough sleep. Last semester his PMS took excused him from the FTX as they were going to be up all night, and also excused him from PT as they have to get up so early...

    Always have your Plan B

We were very fortunate that we have 529 money and a college account set up by grandparents, plus school merit aid to fall back on. He did take the Direct loan this year, just to make sure he had enough (we not only have to make up tuition, but the R&B was also a scholarship from the college so...

Oh my AROTC-dad! That is absolutely terrifying! So glad that his prognosis is good!

    Always have your Plan B

Two and a half years ago my son started college with a 4 year AROTC scholarship. I had the usual worries: that he keep his grades up, that he pass his height/weight and physical fitness tests every semester, that he didn't get injured doing something ridiculous, that he stay away from any...

Got a 4 year ARTOC Scholarship... Now What?

Make sure you are choosing your school based on where you want to be, and where you would want to be if you did NOT have the ROTC scholarship. It is also very important to try to choose a college you can afford WITHOUT the ROTC scholarship, as sometimes, as we found out, things happen that are...

Got a 4 year ARTOC Scholarship... Now What?

Correct. You can wait until right before the deadline to submit your choice. If you do not get admitted to the school you chose, then there is a way to apply to transfer the scholarship to another school, it explains how to do that in the letter you will get, and there are many threads on here...

    Norwich and Citadel

Norwich was very accommodating 3 years ago when DS visited. We went through his admissions counselor and she arranged meetings with AROTC, the Commandant of Cadets, his academic department of choice, and I think there was 1 more. He was looking at a sport, so his overnight was with a team member.

New GoArmyEd procedures for Scholarship Payments

It has also been my understanding, that scholarship payments are not released until 45 days AFTER the start of the semester. This is what we have been told the past 2 1/2 years.

Uploading 104-R and creating Course Planner in GoArmyEd

My DS does a new 104-R every semester. At the beginning of this semester, they did a paper 104-R and then the GoArmy course planner had to match. They then had to do the request for "billing".

    AROTC Pay Problem

DS has gotten his book money, and his tuition is marked as paid, but they have to fill out all of this academic information on Army Ed (not sure if that is the right word for it), then the PMS's have to approve it, they have to submit a bill from the school, and then they have to check something...

    spring sport? risk of injury?

My DS played a varsity sport his first semester at an SMC. I think getting injured and losing the scholarship was always in the back of his mind, and he did not give it his all. He gave up his sport after that semester. We had encouraged him to do the sport, and he decided on his own to give...

    AROTC College Choice

My son had sort of "mediocre" stats. He had both Eagle Scout and Boy's State and his only other true leadership was Capt of soccer 1 year and Capt of track 1 year. He received a 4 yr on the first board(2 years ago). So it can happen even if it seems hard! We had visited some schools his Junior...

    AROTC College Choice

They rank according to overall score first, then start going down the list. It is best to choose the colleges according to where the student wants to go, and also ones he has a reasonable chance of being admitted to. Good luck!
