    Choosing ROTC Scholarship over SA

I chose ROTC over an academy. Here's my two cents, take it for what it's worth. I knew I wanted to serve in the Navy since my sophomore year of high school. I have no military background or family history in any branch or at any school, so nothing of that nature was a factor in my decision...

    eye sight waivers

If that's his uncorrected vision, your son should have no problem. I have far worse uncorrected vision and I didn't need to get a waiver. If that's his corrected vision he will most likely be disqualified because it has to be correctable to 20/20.

    Too late to join ROTC?

No one will be able to give you a definitive answer but your cadre, so I'd suggest emailing/calling them ASAP. Speaking as a student with limited knowledge on the subject: I've seen it happen in Army and Air Force. As for Navy/Marine, at least at my school, it would be very difficult (barring on...

    NROTC Scholarship Questions

I'm at A&M (also in NROTC) now and while I can't answer your questions I can confirm that it's a pretty massive unit with a virtually nonexistent cap, lol. We have about 40 contracted midshipmen per class, and I'd say at least 20-25 of them are four-year Navy options. PM me if you ever have any...

    Is a waiver necessary?

I would say it'd be too risky to not disclose something like that to DODMERB. Provide a lengthy explination, include medical records, and get a note from the doctor(s) prescribing it to you that you're fine now. They're usually strict on mental conditions but I feel like if you play your cards...

    DODMERB response time/eye exam questions

Just found out that I'm fully qualified! Great news because with my luck, I expected a fight. Here's a timeline for anyone that might be interested: 09-JUL-13 Date applicant entered into DoDMERB system 09-JUL-13 Application Added 24-JUL-13 Actual date of exam 30-JUL-13 Date exam...

    DODMERB response time/eye exam questions

I also had problems with the depth perception test. There were eight total for me and I think I only saw four or five of them. I remember reading on an old thread (so take this with a grain of salt because I really have nothing to back it up) that depth perception isn't really a commissioning...

    DODMERB response time/eye exam questions

I found out that I received a 2-year NROTC scholarship for the fall 2013 semester at the very end of June. Due to some processing/paperwork/etc. my unit wanted to handle first and some incredibly slow response times therewithin, I was not allowed to start scheduling my DODMERB exams until late...

    Question for Navy Midshipmen

Do online classes count for the calculus requirement? My unit has given us conflicting information. I can't find anything through the NROTC website saying online classes aren't allowed but I wanted to see what other units have been told.

Any other Navy sideload scholarship (2 and 3 year) applicants out there?

I applied for a two year Navy scholarship back in March and was wondering if there's anyone else out there who's in the same boat. Most of my unit is pretty much in the dark regarding the sideload scholarships, though I feel like we're not the only ones. What we managed to find out from our LT...

Exactly how competitive are 2 year Navy scholarships and AS, respectively?

I'm YG15 and am in the process of applying for a 2 year scholarship. The officers in my unit, unfortunately, have not been much help. I don't want this to turn in to a 'chance me' sort of thread, so all I'll say is that I am an international studies/critical foreign language major. This...
