    Underage Drinking Project

I'm not following you. The consequences of binge drinking are well known, but we're still given briefings about it. If nobody tells cadets not to underage drink, that just adds fuel to the reasoning that it's acceptable to do as long as you don't get caught.

    Underage Drinking Project

There's a fair amount of education now for over/binge drinking, but as I said there's nothing about underage drinking. This is exactly what I'm getting at. Underage drinking goes unmentioned. They already are, but even in those there's nothing saying not to underage drink.

    Underage Drinking Project

The rules changed sometime in the middle of the semester. I remember one of my friends would have gotten kicked out if it happened a week later. I'm sure you're right though that it's still very dependent on the situation.

I made no such assumption, and you are right that breaking the law is not automatically an honor violation. You can get kicked out for situations where you were honorable.

    Underage Drinking Project

There were a lot of incidents this last semester, so it changed to just one.

Now it only takes one at USAFA, even w/o honor. This is the prevailing attitude at USAFA. :frown:

Negative. And it's not semantics. Only raimius and buffalo have been constructive.

    Underage Drinking Project

No. I asked for comments and suggestions. Although I have received negative comments, I have not received "advice and suggestions" as scoutpilot said.

    Underage Drinking Project

How do I seem indifferent? I used indifferent once to describe how I felt about it being okay or wrong to underage drink. I don't care who does it. What I do care about is that I have had 2, almost 3, friends get kicked out for it. No, I actually haven't.

So then why do we have honor lessons every few weeks? Why can't they just tell us what honor is at the beginning, give us the manual, and be done with it?

    Underage Drinking Project

Please reread my original post without that one sentence about breaking the law. I agree that that makes my stance unclear. And why are you being so hostile? This isn't a political debate.

    Underage Drinking Project

Making a change isn't hard. Nothing's been tried because no one cares enough to do anything. These are actually the most negative responses I've gotten (which includes my drinking friends).

    Underage Drinking Project

My motivation for doing this is not because I think it's wrong. I'm really pretty indifferent about it. I don't even know why I replied to that speed limit thing. Like you said the academies have been graduating those that have drank underage since they began. The problem I have is that the...

    Underage Drinking Project

Getting the law changed anytime soon isn't going to happen, but cadets are going to have their careers ended this next semester because they drank underage.

    Underage Drinking Project

Ending all underage-cadet drinking. I don't expect that to happen anytime soon or even before I graduate, but hopefully I can at least get something implemented for the Class of 2016. A lot happens in dorms, surprisingly. I thought maybe the sophomore coaching system could be used. Have...

    Underage Drinking Project

I partook in a leadership course this last semester, and a big part of it was having your own “leadership project.” I came up with ending cadets drinking underage (at USAFA). It’s always bothered me that it gets shoved down our throats not to lie, cheat, or steal, but gets almost completed...

What to Bring as an Incoming Freshman...

I think it's fine that you think this is a bad idea, but you're making this seem MUCH worse than it is. During recognition the upperclassmen knew we had a schedule; they even asked us. Did it make life worse? No. They just got all huffy because it wasn't as cool for them anymore. I only...

What to Bring as an Incoming Freshman...

    1. Cadre are always just looking for excuses to beat basics. 2. You could memorize the schedule instead. 3. My post was obviously for the risk takers. 4. hornetguy's perspective is completely different from having been an upperclassman for three years.

What to Bring as an Incoming Freshman...

If anyone wants to wear a funny shirt, you won't get yelled at that much. At least in my case, all the cadre just assumed someone else already did or was going to. And later you'll probably see a video/picture of yourself looking ba. Also, I can remember wishing I had brought a schedule of BCT...
