Oh that's right! Only 5000 of the 11,000 initial applicants completed all parts of the application, and half of them were awarded scholarships!

The University of North Georgia says that 11,000 apply and 5,000 are given out; of those 5000 about half are 4 year

I think VMI and The Citadel are the only SMCs that offer a Coast Guard option from their NROTC programs. Since its part of NROTC, I figure you'd be an ensign when you graduate like everyone else. Try emailing their commanders to know for certain.

I'm constantly worried about DODMERB and medical DQ's.... Anyone else have this problem? I have no known medical problems that would disqualify me. But still, I always worry that when I go to get checked for ROTC, the docs there will find something, anything wrong with me to disqualify me! So...

I thought I saw somewhere that there are special Army scholarships for undergrads majoring in desired languages (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, etc) and was wondering if anyone had info on this? Is applying for these scholarships a separate process than the AROTC schoalrship, or would these majors...

I know that NROTC-MO sideload scholarships are hard to come by. I emailed every Marine Officer Instructor at every school I was interested in (including VMI) and they all said it was unlikely to be awarded one in the future That being said, Kinnem's DS got one, so it is possible. Just not the...

Does anyone have experience with contact lenses and ROTC? Are they allowed during Orientation Week, and during drills? Or does it vary from program to program?

In today's fiscal climate, it's better to not give the Army ANY reason to get rid of you. I would hold off on the tattoo.

I'd say Armor is second, right behind Infantry. In terms of least requested combat arms, it would probably be Air Defense Artillery.
