    Falcon Foundation

Re: You do not need a nomination, and you don't need to be academically qualified for USAFA. I attended NWP last semester as a Falcon; it's no cakewalk but it is TOTALLY worth it. If there is anyway you can get a foundation scholarship, do everything you can to get and accept it.

    Advice for a Falcon

Thnx for the advice. The reason I'm working 40+ hours a week is b/c I have to pay for part of my tuition to NWP, and thats the only way I can. (I miss posted that part to make it look like I was working for cash to take to USAFA, sorry). Thanks again though, and I'll try to remember to slow down...

    Advice for a Falcon

Hi, I have basically a "is there anything I can be doing now" kind of question. I have already graduated HS and I recieved a Falcon Foundation scholarship to NWP. What can I do this summer, (I'm already working 40+ hours a week) to help me when I finally get to the Academy? Since I have so long...

    CFA Tips + Advice

I didn't warm up my upper body for the CFA and I maxed out the push ups and came close on the Pull ups. For the most part, if you are prepared, warming up isn't that critical. As for maintaining fitness, I have only been to a gym twice in my life. The push ups you can do anywhere, chin ups can...

    What does this mean?

I received a Falcon Scholarship earlier this year through some rather unique circumstances, and I just checked my page at USAFA and i saw this: Your Status: Candidate* Appointment Status: Falcon At Northwstrn (accepted) I am going to Northwestern, but I'm wondering exactly what that...

    Nominations questions

The number competing for an appointment really varies state to state and district to district. I know of some districts that have over 40 apps. and I know one that had just one app. The best thing to do, (and I know you don't want to hear it) is forget about other people and just do your very...

I am Iranian, will the Naval Academy like this?

I wouldn't really know, but I think it probably would REALLY help. All of the SA's are big on diversity, and being fluent in a language, especially one used in the middle east would look fairly valuable.

    Cross Commissioning

I know this is a bit of a broad question, but whats the deal with cross commissioning?

    Northwestern Finances....

I was wondering if it is possible to get grants or some other kind of financial aid for Northwestern? I recieved a FF Scholarship. However, I still have to dish up a sizable chunk of change when I add up plane tickets, SAT/ACT testing etc. I have ABSOLUTELY no problem paying, but I don't think I...

    GED?

Well I will be re-applying to USNA this year, and I was wondering what the Academy thinks of the GED? I'm homeschooled, not a drop out, but I took the test anyway. According to my scores, I am in the top 1% of the nation, I have an equivelent of a 4.0 gpa, and I (supposedly) graduated with high...

    So very many questions

Well, I believe it or not I was given a Falcon Foundation Scholarship! (After being turned down by both USNA and USAFA this was quite the pick me up.) This is unusual because I have NO sports whatsoever. (My USAFA guidance counseler realized how much I wanted to attend USAFA and she...

    Second year Nominations

Thanks for the info. BTW, I kind of got the impression from my Regional Director that if I did well in college, (taking Calc, Chem. Hx, and English), that my S.A.T scores wouldn't matter anyway. I only have a 630 math and 640 English. Does anyone know if I should retake the S.A.T.? Or should I...

    Second year Nominations

Hello, well as most of you know, I got that dreaded thin envelope. Turns out I was never scholastically Q'ued. I was however medically Q'ued and I was granted 3 noms. My question is, when I apply for the class of 2014, will i still have a good chance at getting noms? Or will I be viewed as a...

    Prep School

Alright, well i was talking to the admissions office and they said without a sport i was in a bad way (which i already knew). However, they brought up the falcon foundation, and asked me if i was interested. I, of course, am very interested but i am wondering about cost? i know it is a partial...

How does one Reapply to USNA 2014

Well first, I am in a similar situation to your son's. I got that dreaded thin letter so here I am. I had a chat with admissions and here is what they told me. First, for my S.A.T's, (630 math and 640 reading), I do NOT need to retake them. She said i could if i want, but the scores were...

Bad news or what? Where do I stand?

Re: Well first off, I would like to thank everyone for all of the supportive comments. Unfortionately for me, the journey is over. I got the official "We regret to inform you....." letter today. Although I am hugely dissapointed (Duh), I realize that I can apply to 2014 next year. On to a...

    Intelligence officer training

O.k, First off, I do NOT know. I am just a candidate for the class of 2013. However, I talked to some USNA seniors earlier this year and they said that the academy does not have an intel division, (someone check me on this). I don't know if you can go into intel after grad. or not. I don't think...

Bad news or what? Where do I stand?

Re: Parkhurst89 Parkhurst89 I am Medically qualified and I have 3 noms, (four actually but one is to USAFA), 2 from my Senators and one from my Congresswoman. I think all three noms are on a competitive basis. However, I have yet to hear if I am academically Qu'ed.
