You'd probably have more luck with heavies that need some hours for training anyways. See if your chain will get in contact with a unit. Don't forget the guard or reserves either.
It all goes back to that cheesy but true piece of advice, "Grow wherever you're planted." In the end you need to do what'll make you happy but I've noticed that the CSO career field is not really aspired to as cadets and many don't know the perks of the career. Many go on after CSO to work with...
If you got CSO with a medium and lost a Pilot with a hig
CSO in training here...Don't be too disappointed in getting a CSO slot. I was in the same boat as you and being here has really changed my mind. We have the opportunity to go to great places with CSO, can do some really badass stuff...
I'm not saying the enlisted life is bad but in my experience I hear a lot more of, "I wish I would have commissioned instead" and "how should I get my commission" rather than "I wish I didn't commission and enlisted instead." Take that as you may. Either way, I'm sure you'll support his...
Keep in touch with your university registrar. I often went until the last month or two because of late scholarship payments and they had no problem. Your NCOs or commander should be in a good relationship with them and can also keep them updated if needed.
I was an accounting major and the CPA test would be the easy part (which says a lot). Your son is only getting to the 150 credits which only makes him able to even take the CPA exams. The exams would take 6 months on a short track given that he passes them all and takes them with very little...
My father didn't like the idea at first either. Thing is, they'll love you no matter what and support you though it. The way I approached it was I told him that I'd listen to his concerns but at this point I have made up my mind and this is what I am doing. Rather, informing him of my...
Don't use their names...What you did was correct. You may be expected to know people's names at Field Training but that is just a tactic that they use to add stress during that time. If this continues and it is as you described I could even say this was hazing. If you ever feel that way make...
The length doesn't call for any different preparations and plans (job/vacation) will have to wait until it's official just like any other year. Do well this last semester for your commander's ranking, FA score, and GPA. Don't worry about the rest.
Edit: One thing you'll learn is that...
It's all over the place and if you get a date there's no promising that it won't change. I was told I would have 9ish months at home then I was told a couple months later that I have 1.5 months until I leave. That's just the life in the military. You should get an initial EAD before you even...
It would be great and they're working on it. I'm in another rated career field and am seeing the same thing happening. Our dates are pushed months beyond what they typically are and more are coming.
What most likely happened is that they reevaluated and need more rated slots in general, not that they were all eliminated. The Air Force and military in general are expanding like crazy now.
Be the leader that you want to be and do your best not to worry about others. Sometimes that trait will wear off with time and sometimes it won't so much. I know that if I had that attitude as a new LT, I would be put in place very very quickly. So let them experience that themselves I guess.
The regular supplemental boards will happen in the fall (typically sometime in Oct.) and are treated the same way as the regular boards but with less people and slots available. The rolling boards are as simple as cadets losing their slot due to a variety of issues and the next person on the...
Are you the same user from the Reddit post? I reported a ticket and traffic stop (warning) that I forgot about which were recorded and that was it. By the time my security clearance started it was old news and all was fine. Of course it depends on the severity of the incident.
What many don't know is that the supplemental board is also a "rolling board" in that people will drop out/get kicked out along the way and slots will change. Don't completely lose hope because my selection changed for the better the semester of my commissioning.
Do the 4 year, it'll make you better in the long run, schooling is still paid for, and you'll have more free time to keep your GPA up. College is a great time and you'll meet some people that you'd like to spend that extra year with.
