Credits should carry over. If you have taken classes the same as the Plebe year, they will test out of classes into harder or more appropriate classes for that Cadet.

West Point stores cell phones in a different area now. Bring your phone so you'll have it before Aday, so you can contact your parents where to meet.

Do it. You're going for leadership, communication skills. It doesn't matter if you share his views. It's good to always be open to possibilities even if they are not like minded ~ that's how you learn, grow. In government one has to appreciate another's view, that doesn't mean you have to agree.

For Rday it's totally worth the drive because you'll see him for 90 seconds. But for Aday, you may want to be closer, so he can spend every second with you. Go for Rday, and if you feel you want to be closer, book then at WP Motel for Aday. Either way, congrats to your son and enjoy yiur time at...

The West Point Motel has been remodeled, is close to USMA, and isn't that expensive.

No, you can not claim your Cadet on your taxes.

A backpack may be too small. A small duffle filled with things in gallon plastic zip locked bags should be sufficient. Also, you'll need a few of those bags to put you socks and knowledge book in so they don't get wet from the rain when you are out in the field. Good luck!

How many Cadets are they accepting for the class of 2017? What percentage of prepsters (on an average) get appointed to The Point?

It's difficult to say...sometimes Plebes won't find out if they can have the pass until the 11th hour...even if requested far in advance. Also, you could be tasked at the last minute and not be allowed to attend. I would request it, but realize it may not come to fruition.
