    Quick question.

Take this with a grain of salt, its not true or accurate by any means. I got more than 3C's in high school. might graduate in 6 months.

    Quick question.

But if you were a deckie nobody cares even if you dont graduate, because you wouldnt have learned anything useful anyways.

    Hazing?

That was my plebe year, 2015 a couple of weeks into the academic year during our nightly "meetings" with the training staff where they could do whatever they wanted with us for 1 hour or 1.5 hours. Those meetings aren't a thing anymore.

    Hazing?

Dis-enrolling someone and having a conversation for failing to make any progress and consistently being out of the regs is one thing, calling them a fat a** is another. As a leader, you set the example...not degrade people with stupid terms. I have no doubt that a federal academy would show...

    Hazing?

Calling a recruit fat at a federal academy is certainly not sanctioned or allowed. You should not put people down for no reason. Calling people fat does nothing to solve the problem, it just labels the person and makes it harder for him/her to make a change. Aside from not being allowed it is...

    Hazing?

So by your own admission, you were singled out. Singling people out is obviously not hazing as you said earlier. Humiliating someone is also not hazing in certain cases, depends on the cause of the humiliation. Both subjective terms, I suggest not making blanket statements.

    Hazing?

That's a pretty low standard for hazing, but you must have been so perfect that they could never find a reason to be singled out. Each of those things certainly happened to me my freshman year.

    Vaping at USMA

I'm sure they very much care about the contents of their pods. A company that is non-compliant with health and safety regulations probably isn't much of a company anymore. A company whose product is labeled unsafe is sure to take a a big hit to the bottom line. For a $1Bn revenue company, I'm...

    Vaping at USMA

Uh....Can someone explain how vaping would harm his teeth or smile? It's a nicotine delivery system.

    Enlisted to USMMA

Nothing here negates that SWOs are not seamen or mariners. There is no value in training them or insisting that they act as such or suggesting that a USCG license is helpful to them, because it isn't. On both the McCain and Fitz, the Navy failed to follow its own operating procedure. For...

    Vaping at USMA

This is not the case. I do not use or suggest the use of this product because I think it is destructive. However, the flavors were meant to make the Juul more attractive to the existing adult smoker than a regular cigarette and has been successful in taking many adults off of cigarettes. Nobody...

    Enlisted to USMMA

The Navy's core competency is fighting wars, not seamanship. A SWO is not a mariner, and his or her focus is not marine trans or nautical science. The SWO needs to have a basic level of knowledge so that he does not cause a collision or allision, and I guess nothing more or less.
  13. J

    Enlisted to USMMA

This is opinionated and factually incorrect. The Navy's personnel requirement for accessions changes on a yearly basis. The number of SWOs required for accession fluctuates with the needs of the service. SWOs are in high demand right now not just from USMMA, but in general. You can even see...

    Enlisted to USMMA

This is wrong. USMMA has a dual mission, one aspect of that is graduating licensed merchant marine officers and the other is to develop commissioned officers. Each graduate is a commissioned officer whether in a reserve component or on active duty. So that is incorrect...commissioning officers...

What is inaccurate about the AP article then?

Do all Officers go through DoDmerb?

From a quick reference to goarmy.com you must be "DoDMERB qualified" to be part of the Green to Gold program. Obviously that program is out, not to say there is not another accession method that may work for you.

    Racial Bias probe

I think the AP article gave appropriate context on the first issue. The two cadets were roommates and were debating racial issues such as NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem. The white cadet then played that song and changed the background on the black cadet's computer to a...

    Racial Bias probe

From the article: "In one incident, when a white cadet played the song “If the South Woulda Won” in a black cadet’s room, the local NAACP said some were frustrated the white cadet was let off with an order to undergo sensitivity training." This is incredibly insensitive, not only in that the...

    Can an Engineering Degree Wait?

This is blatantly wrong, I suggest you stop posting this ridiculous info. To get your PE you have to do these things: To use the PE seal, engineers must complete several steps to ensure their competency. Earn a four-year degree in engineering from an accredited engineering program Pass the...

    Can an Engineering Degree Wait?

Shook hands with Mr. Mattis last year after my junior year, when he was commencement speaker. I recall he said after the speech that one of the positive aspects of the Merchant Marine Academy is that both majors, Engineering and Trans, have some technical aspects. But, to digress, getting a...
