    SLE or Boys' State

Here's my pet peeve. So do you participate in Boys State, Student Govt, Boy Scouts, "I built a yurk in Guatemala", etc... just to build a resume so you canbe accepted into a SA? Or is your participation because you enjoy those activities and truly enjoy helping. This is why the SA's are not...

    Chase Hall

My sister did boot camp in Cape May one July, and she's a real cupcake, hippie chick. (Yes, she was traumatized, but has some real funny stories) She just never quit. Looking at the quality of Appointee's on the FB 2019 page, everyone of us should do well physically.

    Chase Hall

The ring in your Avatar says "06"....is that 1906? Stinky Sweaty Swabs? Maybe I should ask about indoor plumbing? (Just Kidding)

    Chase Hall

I've read the "Cadet's Handbook", and I've gleaned that the dorm rooms in Chase Hall do not have air conditioning? Something about turning the AC off in my house to acclimate....yeah, that will float like a stone balloon. Isn't Connecticut pretty hot in August? Now that's Old School ! CGA...

    Reapplying to USAFA

I guess I would ask myself what is my objective or end goal. Is it to be an Air Force officer, or is it just to go to the the USAFA. There are plenty of programs in civilian universities that would put you in as an officer, I'd say do ROTC. Same for USNA and USMA. USCGA is a little...

USCGA Class of 2019 statistics and waitlist?

There is no justice for a criminal justice major. Take the AROTC, go to FSU. I hear they have a good football team. You could end up as Aids to Navigation (Buoy Tender). You'd be bummed.

    Carry On for 2018

This is the most important privilege at the USCGA?

USCGA Class of 2019 statistics and waitlist?

You gotta decide what you're end objective is, because they're different missions. Personally, I'd let the AROTC go, since you have the Pre-paid and Bright Futures, then reapply for USCGA next year. You could always pick up the AROTC again, but I dont' think they pay as much for the final 3...

USCGA Class of 2019 statistics and waitlist?

Hardknock, I'm finding very hard to sympathize. You got Florida in-state tuition, with Bright Futures and someone (grandparents?) put money in a Florida Pre-paid plan. You were awarded 2 extremely hard to get difficult scholarships. Basically you could walk out of college free and clear as a...

    Carry On for 2018

Please explain the significance for those of us who are not familiar.

USCGA Class of 2019 statistics and waitlist?

hardknock96, for someone who received the NROTC-MO Scholarship, you sound a little bitter. The Marines have a "aviation guarantee" contract. Take the money, go to Embry-Riddle in Daytona, get a Aerospace Engineering degree. You could end up flying a F-35. Door closes, window opens! No...

    Sponsor Question

@ CoastiePilot..you allude to the fact that a lot of these families may be military. Do cadets find it uncomfortable being back in the situation of having superiors (officers) around when they're supposed to be decompressing? I don't like the idea of asking for rides to the airport, I don't...

    Sponsor Question

I understand there are Sponsor Families. How does this work? Will these folks actually pick me up from the CGA, bring me to their home, let me fall asleep on their sofa, feed me dinner, and then take me back to the CGA? That would be incredible. What else would we do together? Would they...

    Uniform Question

First I'd like to congratulate all the "kids" that have received an appointment for the class of 2019. Enjoy your last 12 weeks of civilian life! My question is about wearing you uniform off campus/base. I understand that the cadets cannot wear civilian clothes, but which uniform is appropriate...
