    USMA 2021 Appointment Thread

It does not mean you will not get an appointment. We got this same letter and my son received an appointment in early Feb last year.

Wow! I can't tell you how good it is to read this. You should be very proud of yourself, you are clearly made of the right stuff!

My, How the Years Have Gone...

How badly did you struggle the first year? Did you doubt your commitment to USMA? What made you stay? Thank you for giving back....

What are must see events for parents of West Point first years?

I agree with tugboat but note that class of 2021 Plebe Parent Weekend will be in 2018 so doesn't apply to your quest to map out your 2017 vacation.

How do you measure his courage?

Just incredible, I'd read this story before but hadn't seen the update. A great reminder of what wonderful men and women are out there while we are disgusted with our politicians daily.

    recruited athlete

Thanks that's what I thought. I can certainly understand why many would, the workload must be really tough for some.

    recruited athlete

What happens if a cadet who was a recruited athlete wants to quit his sport? Is that even possible? Obviously very different from other colleges where they are on scholarship. Just curious, my cadet is not a recruited athlete.

    Plebe Chemistry Sucks

I also believe that rank is calculated with weighting to the level of course you are in similar to high school. So an 80 in Jedi math is worth more than an 80 in rock math.

    Color Blindness

I can't answer on the futures part , I know there are limitations but don't know the details. I can tell you that my son is similarly colorblind, passed the vivid red/green and had no trouble with getting in, no exception needed.

    We're back! Question answering session!

Was there a lot of illness? My cadet said he had some kind of bug and then got food poisoning! Geesh!

    March Out and Letters?

We did get assurance that they were working something out for getting mail to Buckner. No telling how timely it will be but keep writing!

    Separation question

I agree with tugboat and longagoplebe. My son is an athlete but even so when he joined an elite gym he threw up during every workout for a week or two. Even after two years he occasionally will have one that makes him throw up. Trust that they won't allow him or her to dehydrate and...

Free Thayer Reservation for June 26 to 28th. Premium King w Sofa Bed

Best of luck to you, that must have been a very hard decision to make but demonstrates a self awareness not many have at his age. Good luck to you and your family.

    Preparing for USMA

I'd just like to note that there are different versions of GPA's , weighted and unweighted (weighted takes into account the difficulty of the course being regents, AP or college level). Many have 4.0 weighted GPA's. My son had over a 4.0 weighted but a 96.8 unweighted. Also Class rank is...

    R-Day

I know for certain you are asked to bring a copy of your immunization records. Other than that my impression is that is the only paperwork they require but in an abundance of caution I'll send our son with copies of everything he submitted as well.
