I agree regarding May 1st for those on the wait list. Some got appointments 3 before R day. My DD had to accept a full 4 year Scholarship no later than April 15. She was not pulled off wait list.

My advice would be pick a major that fits within the multiple missions of the USCG. Especially if you desire a long career. For example, if you get a major in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. There is no USCG career for that major. The USCG does not build ships.

Yes it is crazy. It does happen two days before reporting day. Some with offers reject to go to another Academy. Some get in trouble. Others may get injured. That is how it happens.

If extended an offer. They will wait for the DoDMerb. An only rescind if the issue is not resolved. Or a permanent waiver given.

My DD applied to the USCG Academy 2 years ago. ACT score 33. Still not accepted. She was one of 15 to be awarded the Homer Hit. A full load scholarship. She is finishing her second year at School of Naval Architecture and Marine engineering at UNO.

I hold a USCG 100 Ton Master License. Besides 6 pack you need enough see time. Must get no less than 90 on the exam.

One more thing. If from EA there is more hope. From RA very little hope.

Last year at this time my DD was wait listed for CGAS. No call ever came. So she moved on to plan B.

All good advice here. Always have a plan be ready to execute if a appointment is not offered.
