    Citadel Class of 2015 Acceptances!

My daughter was accepted a while back. She's on her pre-knob/athletic recruiting visit tonight.

From Paris, France to VMI or Citadel, Norwich, USNA

Feb. or April of junior year is not at all too early. I think visiting as many prospective colleges (this goes for "civilian" colleges too) as possible before senior year is a good idea, if only to narrow down the list of prospective schools and save on application fees.

    Prospective Cadet

My daughter just received her academic acceptance to The Citadel. Probably will set up a pre-knob visit for after soccer season.

    Question re: DODMERB physical

My daughter's physical exam is tomorrow. Monday, while scrimmaging during soccer practice, she had her ankle stepped on. She's limping around now and probably will be tomorrow, although there's nothing long term about the sprain (she pulled a five hour work shift today on her feet the entire...

How Does Cutting a Pie Into 9 Equal Pieces Help An Officer Lead Soldiers Into Battle

That's OK. At USMA we had ten to a table. I saw a plebe cut a pie in ten pieces, six on one half and four on the other. I saw another plebe cut a pie into seven pieces -- I myself think that's hard -- six of which were same sized and one was a sliver; a 2/c carried it around to show other...

How Does Cutting a Pie Into 9 Equal Pieces Help An Officer Lead Soldiers Into Battle

A plebe should never have to cut a pie into nine equal pieces. Another plebe at the table should give up his pie, making it eight equal pieces. That's teamwork and sacrifice.

    Questions about Army ROTC

This is educated speculation, but given the state of the legal market, I understand that the services are being swamped with interest in the JAG Corps from highly qualified law students and lawyers who've paid their own tuition. I'd say if, if, the Army were to pay for your law school...

How Do I look For Citadel?

I am unaware that there is a requirement that prospective cadets pass a Physical Fitness Test prior to admission. If there is I'd like to know, since my daughter is an applicant. Certainly cadets must pass the PFT each semester while at school.

    Debt and the academyyy

Is there a specific issue you have? It is doubtful any high school senior gets a loan for a new car or otherwise without a co-signor. If you go to USNA with outstanding debt payable monthly and you can't (or don't) pay it, the lender will look to the co-signor.

    Shin Splints before I-Day

If you aren't taking a multivitamin, you might consider it, as loss of vitamins and nutrients may contribute to shin splints, especially if you are a woman. Years ago my daughter's track coach had a real problem with shin splints among the girls. He asked the boys' coach, who told him he had...

    Any Suggestions.....

Just a NYC bias, that's all. My brother had the highest math SAT score of any football player who ever matriculated at Northeastern. He loved Boston.

    black low quarters - females

R-Day shoe story. Back in the day we were told to bring a pair of black leather shoes, well-broken in. We would be issued a pair at USMA, but we needed the worn pair right away. So I bought a pair, made sure I shined the heck out of them, and wore them to school every day for five weeks...

My chances to get into WP?

Don't let some of these responses get you crazy. List that you are a captain (captain-elect) senior year. The fact that you were elected by your teammates is evidence to the academy of your leadership of them the previous three years of school ball, even if you have a season to play.
