Class of 2021 USNA Appointment Thread

Mine came on April 19th, just as I was beginning to think ..... Let's hope we --and all the re-applicants--have better luck this year!

Grits, congrats on your appointment! Any idea whether it was charged to the Senator or the Congressman?

    USMA Wavier

Is this even an "allergy," which is defined as "a damaging immune response by the body to a substance, especially pollen, fur, a particular food, or dust, to which it has become hypersensitive." Occasional sensitive skin patches, or minor eye, nose, or throat irritations, related to eating or...

    From ROTC to an Academy

We were told that if DS goes to an academy he will be released from ROTC. Does anyone know when this will happen? Will he only formally exit ROTC when he reports in to West Point in June? Or at some time in-between? Has anyone on the forum ever gone from ROTC to an academy and been in this...

Release from ROTC to Accept USNA Appointment?

DS asked me today if he is appointed to the USNA will he immediately be released from ROTC? Or will he only formally exit ROTC when he reports in to Annapolis for I-Day? Or at some time in-between? Has anyone on the forum ever been in this situation? Thanks in advance for your counsel.

    Alabama Nominations

Senator Shelby is the senior senator from Alabama, having been first elected in 1986, so he would, indeed, be "Senator 1."

    Alabama Nominations

I haven't seen anything from Alabama, so I thought I would jump on last year's thread and update it. Here goes: DS has USNA nomination from AL-07. We are still waiting on the Senators, although we have been told that Senator Shelby will announce his nominations next week, while Senator...

    Congressional Nomination Source

Having been through the grueling admissions process here in Northern Virginia with DS, and having heard from those who know how "wicked hard" it is to get an appointment from here, I would say that you would be better off applying from any other state and almost any other congressional district...

    April 16 still on hold

That's a great fallback plan. We're busy with the paperwork for our own. And let me add my kudos for a great story. But why would the Germans blow up .... a winery? A bridge I can understand, but an intact winery full of vintage wine would only have slowed the advancing Americans down. :tank1:

    NWL

DS has been on "Hold" for two months, and his letter in late March confirmed that he has "been placed on the national waiting list as a Hold Candidate." But then it gives a further interesting wrinkle: "As vacancies occur, Hold Candidates are offered appointments in order of merit, based upon...

    April 16 still on hold

DS, who is on "Hold," visited KP last week and confirmed that he is on the "National Wait List." In answer to the question, "How many people are on the NWL?", the RC said "Lots." RC went on to say that "It is basically now a waiting game." There are lots of other "games" that we would all...

    April 16 still on hold

Visited USMMA last week. The admissions counselor said that, for those of us on "Hold", it is "Now a waiting game." A significant number, roughly 30%, of those offered appointments to the Academy end up turning them down for other academies/opportunities. So quite a few of those on the...

Hopefully the last "Who's still CPR" thread

We're in the same boat--or plane--or merchant marine vessel. Have no idea at this point. DS is still CPR in Virginia, on Hold with USMMA, and--God is good--has an AFROTC scholarship. My heart aches for each and every one of the TWE recipients, and hopes that all those still CPR receive a BFE...

    It's March 28, 2016 and still CPR...

Nothing new. Still CPR. If thiskeeps up, I'm going to need real CPR in the not-too-distant future.

TWEs will be sent this week

True Story. We were told by the Director of Admissions at USAFA--after DS received his TWE--that 30% of the incoming class were re-applicants. So if this is your dream, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and go for it.
