How much sleep does an average USNA mid get?

also... love the enthusiasm in your username but maybe don't call yourself a "25 grad" in front of your plebe summer people ok?

How much sleep does an average USNA mid get?

My fancy watch says I am "in bed" for 7 hours most nights but only "sleep for 6" and should "try to destress" and "limit my caffeine intake". Unless you have a random watch or extra duty pop up you are completely in charge of your sleep cycle. Best advice I ever got was that it's better to...

Current Firstie (senior) at USNA, AMA

No disrespect intended. There just seems to be a skew towards a certain social class... and I sort of snuck in the back door so to say.

    Current NAPSter, ask anything!

    Hope you don't expect Plebe Summer to be as easy as we went on you for Naps Indoc... (;

Hey, will answer some of these all in one: I almost joined the army lol. I was so clueless about military stuff I didn't even know what the difference between officer and enlisted was. Luckily, when I got a 98 on the ASVAB the army recruiter informed me... other jobs were possible. Call the navy...

That girl pulled out all the stops, I know who you are talking about. Anything is possible, worst thing they can say is "no" and you're back where you were anyhow.

Naps is what's in the name, a PREP school. It's for people that would struggle with the core courses (or have been out of school a while... I went to nuke school which is NOT like "real college" haha). People of every major end up coming out of NAPS. By graduation you can't really tell who was...

Current Firstie (senior) at USNA, AMA

I know the most ever, near 40. the goal is soon for gender to play no role in selection, as in there are enough fleet spots it no longer matters! Hmm... Favorite: being around exceptional people, being a part of history (I am a nerd for military/geopolitics), and the opportunity to commission...

Current Firstie (senior) at USNA, AMA

Enlisted, NAPS, USNA, Detailer, selected for Subs, feel free to ask me anything about the process. I know this board is very dedicated to score/nominations but I think there are a lot of perspectives currently being at USNA could answer vs an Old Grad (no offense, Sir/Ma'am). Will check in on...

    Ask a NAPS detailer

Hi, I believe there is less restrictions on NAPS indoc vs Plebe summer as there are way less people at Newport. Also, all the detailers have a 2 week quarantine at USNA before busing up to Rhode Island.

    Ask a NAPS detailer

Hi, I posted one of these earlier in the year, but with all the craziness since, I thought I would give anyone the chance to ask any questions! Obviously, I do not have all the answers and everything is a fluid process that could change right now, but I am more than willing to just chat or...

    Engineering

Just want to add, you should go into the Academy and literally just soak it all in for the first 1.5 years. Then maybe decide what you think your career would be. I'm not saying planning is bad, but there is a very small chance things will unfold the way your 17 year old self sees them.

nuclear eng v mechanical eng for Subs

Study something because it is interesting to you! I am a Computer Engineering major (probably just outed myself, there is less than a dozen of us) and passed the DC interview fine! In reality you're learning how to learn, if something you like to learn is how stuff works, engineering is...

Was just assigned to NAPS indoc as a detailer, AMA

I did indeed attend NAPS. It is not mandatory that all the detailers be former napsters, but most that ask for it are. It is one of our three blocks of training in the summer, and a much smaller detail than Plebe Summer which is also going on at the same time. Thanks for picking up my slack...

    Transferring to the Naval Academy

Right, most SEAL hopefuls, in my experience, have marines (hopefully infantry) as their second choice. Supposedly the only time the marines will accept being "the backup plan". No offense to any jarheads, but if you're competitive for SEALS, the marine trainings are cake.

    Upcoming CVW

    1) they are not allowed to have an xbox, they are either hiding it or were exclusively allowed to use someone else's because they were "rating" media. 2)Friday night "study period" for 4/C and 3/C becomes increasingly about blowing off steam as the year goes on- the upper class are mostly gone...

    Transferring to the Naval Academy

This may be a controversial piece of advice, but if your goal is to become a SEAL officer, statistically your best shot at it is to enlist as a SEAL, crush the training, and then earn your degree and commission with a foot already in the door. Jocko Willink did this, who you probably know after...
