Our DS just declined his USMA spot for another SA

Nothing wrong with 2nd best! Go Army. And best of luck to yours...

    Low Quarter Socks

I would put extra effort into socks: black socks for low quarters, white socks for PT and wool socks for boots. This just an opinion based on Pluck feedback.

    USMA 2021 Class Motto

Sorry for being a wet blanket but shouldn't this be a cadet-led project? I know it's all in good fun but nonetheless I express my opinion.

Information for all of us newbies! USMA Class of 2021

In my observation and experience, if you are coming out of NY, NJ, CT, PA, OH...etc, prepping for WP and life at WP for cadets is different from those out of ND, WY, NM, ID...etc. Everything is just a bit more challenging from the remote lands due to many factors. Factor that in, I recommend.

    C/O 21 Packing List

Enjoy the journey! Packing list will be your guide as has been stated here before my post. You could literally show up in your underwear with your footwear and probably do just fine. But the extra stuff might bring you comfort to know you have it. Your fun begins now! Finish strong whatever you...

Limits on spine curvature? Scoliosis limitations?

Good luck! Been through that. Less said the better. Just perform!

    Tattoo

Tattoo memo on the portal is your guide. It's all clearly spelled out. Tattoos are such a part of life of your generation and at WP they are everywhere and the regs seem to have actually relaxed on them even this year. That being said, listen to what others have said before my post. Why risk it...

    Class of 2021 R-Day

If you have not gotten the info yet: flight and hotel the night before are reimbursed but no guarantees the money will ever hit their account. It's a black hole from m experience. Plebes navigating WP treasurer info is not high on their priority list and I guess you submit and hope the money...

    USMA Acceptance Day 2021

Every year is different but you probably will not be allowed out beyond walking priveleges. And man oh man I wouldn't be thinking about my cousin's wedding right now. I would be preparing for Beast and doing what it takes to be accepted into the Corps of Cadets. Just my two cents.

    Boots?

You will get all the info you need. Purchase as early as possible. If you do by mail they never fit right. Supplies are limited. It can be a hassle. Start early in everything. Enjoy it.

What are my chances at getting into west point?

Apply. Enjoy the journey. It's great to set goals. The process alone will sharpen your aptitude. Good luck.

    CFA

On the Portal or somewhere on the Web or USMA site there is some science-based workout routines for CFA. If your DS/DD has the time, do the work outs. No matter how strong or weak, it's about improving and trajectory. Pullups are the hardest and bust people out. But the minimum on RDAY is three...

What are must see events for parents of West Point first years?

I concur with skip R-Day. ADAY is awesome in the sense of what awesome truly means....you will be in awe if you never have been to WP. Your New Cadet will most likely be a bit traumatized but in a good way. 2020 Beast was a bit of shift from previous years...some might say it was a bit more...

    I have to vent!

My two cents: you parent in any way that suits you. Help her a lot, a little, or not at all. That's your business and what works for you may or may not work for others. There are no absolutes except that there are no absolutes. I concur with others saying don't sweat it. The MOC offices are run...

Should I fill out the Application if I havnt been Nominated Yet?

Posts like this are tantalizingly annoying and also quite frankly disrespectful to those appointed and the parents of Cadets present and past. If the OP doesn't get that, then truly he/she is in a very small minority of those interested in attending an academy. This forum is sooooo patient and...

2020 dad. Two cents to 2021.

You have my utmost respect for pursuing an appointment to USMA. So many on this forum know much and I do not. Non-military. I encourage you to apply, do your best to live your life to the fullest degree. I wish you success in your pursuit. Knock on many doors. Never count yourself out. WP seeks...
