    IVY DAY

FYI… Cornell website was crashing for a while, son had to try for over a half-hour to log in even though he was using their link.

Question's and answers that might help

Concur. As a Poli Sci major, after Calc 3 I took Prob/Stats while the engineers all took Diff Eqs (aka “Screws”…IYKYK!).

Question's and answers that might help

Calc 3 was the last common core math class. After Calc 3 the split was between Prob/Stats or Diff Eqs dependent upon academic major.

    Uniform Doesn't Fit

This is a great opportunity for your son to lean on the AMOI and the senior USN enlisted advisor at his NROTC Unit for help in solving this problem. Uniform issues are definitely in their wheel house & they will absolutely help him get squared away. Learning from these seasoned enlisted...

AROTC Commissioning- Cadet Assistance For AGSU's?

Career starter loans are a necessity that nearly every newly minted Second Lieutenant and Ensign lives with. Mine went to purchase all of my USMC uniforms since I couldn’t wear anything from USNA after graduation. Very common and many banks usually avail themselves to Midshipmen and Cadets...

    Updated Bears Den

Son says his Bear’s Den hasn’t changed at all since he received his EA deferral letter in December. Even though he’s submitted everything they required for another look during RD, his AO has said there aren’t realtime updates to the appearance of the Bear’s Den until a decision is rendered.

Harvard Email about Vistas- did anyone else get one?

Yep, our son got the same email. Originator was the AFROTC Unit @ MIT. Our son has all 3 branches to potentially use at Harvard. He uploaded his scholarship award letters for each program to his Harvard portal and contacted Army, Navy, & Air Force ROTC Units @ MIT. DMs are open if you want...

    NROTC 4 year scholarship amount

Depends on the school. For comparison, AFROTC has a listing of the cost for each school. You can see the rates if you have a WINGS portal login. I don’t think it’s a list you can download; rather it’s a searchable proprietary list.

Changing Drivers license, car plates/ registration/ insurance in each PCS/ TDY move, or not? Thoughts?

Many states require at least 2 of the 3 (license, registration, and insurance) be the same address. Individual states have varying requirements based upon permanent duty station versus home of record. Overseas PCS assignments were a whole different animal. Had a PA drivers license, Japanese...

DODMERB and DODMETS discrepancy, which one is correct?

I’ll echo that DoDMERB portal is the definitive answer. Son has AMI that still shows up in DoDMETS but has been superseded by information previously provided. DoDMETS said no conflict, DoDMERB has granted the required waiver. When I doubt, DoDMERB is the deciding authority.

    RD Still Awaiting Decision

Same boat here (no pun intended, we’re gonna need a bigger boat…I’ll see myself out). Fortunately son is sitting on 3 ROTC scholarships as Plans B1/B2/B3; just waiting in Ivy Day before he makes his ultimate decision regarding program & school. Oh, and still waiting on USNA, too…

Son is awaiting Ivy Day (3/28, 5 schools) but also has acceptances at 3 other schools in the event he needs to move his scholarship.

    Nervous in Newton

Thumbs up because I concur with your reply, not the over abundance of recruited athlete admissions.

    Nervous in Newton

According to the 2021 USCGA Diversity Report to Congress (chart on page 6), 51% (138 of 265) of the Class of 2024 that reported for Swab Summer were recruited athletes. It’s been my observation that USCGA relies heavily on recruited athletes due to the small size of the entire school and the...

    MAGTF Screener?

I so wanted to reply with “Who’s your squad leader? Have them call me! Better yet, bring me a Form 2! Shove off!”

    DoDMERB STATUS CHANGE?

It’s my understanding that existing AMI is shared amongst all programs. This doesn’t mean that a specific program won’t ask for additional information or further consults. Once medical information is provided, it remains there in your file for all programs to access.

    DoDMERB STATUS CHANGE?

Unfortunately, your guess is as good as mine. I know that AMI is shared between programs. Each program ultimately decides what they need for your specific instance. Magic 8 Ball time unless someone else here can amplify. There used to be a DoDMERB SME who posted here regularly but those days...

    MAGTF Screener?

If you are a current USNA MIDN 4/C asking questions about your upcoming 3/C cruise WHY ARE YOU ASKING THEM ON THIS FORUM??? Please tell me I’m not the only Grumpy Old Grad that feels this way…🤦🏼‍♂️
