You can not use 529 Funds for USAFA. It is not a qualified institution. You can transfer to another sibling, withdraw funds(without penalty) or save for grad school.

Quick questions concerning appoitments. When an appoitment is offered, does the selection board have to "pick/commit" to a nomination source, or do the have the opportunity to switch the nomination source to help another candidate and the appoitment puzzle?

I believe she finished CFA (the last item on her checklist) in mid October, and Nomination interviews in early November. Appointment Date 12/12/12.
