"Aeronautics" Major, ROTC, and the Risk if you're not selected "Aviator" but want to fly

The lifestyle for P-8s is highly desirable right now among the SNAs. You're also literally flying a 737 which translates well to the airlines, something else a lot of SNAs want Most SNAs will get airsick in the T-6 as well. A lot will be able to beat it, but a good number of students won't...

"Aeronautics" Major, ROTC, and the Risk if you're not selected "Aviator" but want to fly

Nothing wrong with being an NFO. There’s quite a number of students that list it as #1 over pilot actually. They’re happy in the NFO pipeline. Odds for flying (in) a jet or P-8 are much higher as an NFO than Pilot. Most Naval Aviators are rotary, the helo draft is real. P-8s are currently the...

How long can you delay the ROTC DoDMERB exam following board results?

No, they don’t grant conditional waivers pending time passing. You either have enough time off meds or you don’t if it’s a time requirement. Also, remember that each medical case is different. One person’s experience may not necessarily be similar to yours. Even after passing time...

Quitting high school sports to spend time to train for CFA

I wouldn’t quit the sports just to train for the CFA. Also, senior year is like the culmination of all those years playing those sports (if she’s not going to play them in college). One last hurrah. Schools have “senior night” for a reason

    Pilot Slots

Poli sci and fly works too. Can confirm. In flight school now, and I’m doing pretty well. Study something you are passionate about, not something just because you think it’ll help you get a pilot slot. A good GPA will go a long way for selection, and you’re much more likely to achieve...

Is the ROTC unit at your selected colleges made aware of your medical clearance status immediately upon a DQ (and waiver request?)

The unit will know about the medical DQ, and they will likely assist you in submitting the right paperwork, offering advice, etc. to help you through the waiver process They are not going to speak negatively to admissions if an applicant has a medical problem. Sounds like a HIPAA violation

How long can you delay the ROTC DoDMERB exam following board results?

Honestly, the best strategy is probably to just go through the DoDMERB exam sooner rather than later, and that’s what others here are suggesting as well There will be DQs for Accutane and ADHD no matter the timing, as those questions are of the “have you EVER…?” variety. Sometimes, it can take...

Does USNA offer Taylor Swift courses?

I just started reading some of AC's books on my own time last year. Sadly, haven't been able to find the time lately due to school. :(

Does USNA offer Taylor Swift courses?

Those AP courses were only for honors English students to take their senior year at my high school. English was perhaps my least favorite subject in high school, and I strongly disliked the type of writing in my English courses. I didn't think I was a good writer at all either. However, after...

    NROTC Aviation Summer for C2

Probably Pax River, or maybe that unit det'd somewhere, and the mid flew in a T-6. We're super busy with our T-6s in primary, sometimes we don't have enough for students it seems like, much less a flight for a midshipman...

Does USNA offer Taylor Swift courses?

Perhaps it's from a nationwide push to teach AP classes? Seems like more and more, AP classes are seen as a prerequisite for competitive college admissions lately. High schools want to offer more APs, and students want to take more APs in different subjects, leaving less room for writing...

    NROTC Aviation Summer for C2

If you want to do a fighter or growler cruise, try and ask for a Foxtrot or Growler squadron. Echo's are single-seat and thus, you will not get to fly in the back unless they trade you over to a Foxtrot squadron for a day to fly with them, which might not happen depending on plane/pilot...

You could probably start one if one doesn't exist!

Does USNA offer Taylor Swift courses?

It's probably a similar situation at Harvard, but at my Ivy, we had to take at least 2 courses marked as a Writing credit. For people who really didn't like writing (i.e. STEM majors), the English department offered tons of different courses with cool/niche subjects so you could at least choose...

    Am I Insane For Reconsidering?

This is an excellent point. It's not necessarily a 1-for-1 trade of offer declined = another offer extended to someone else. Many colleges over admit students knowing that their yield rate isn't 100%. I would guess USAFA does the same.

    NROTC

Service selection preferences can definitely change over the course of a midshipman's 4 years in NROTC. The Marine options at my Ivy had a great experience, including on their FEXs. You don't need to be part of a large unit to do cool stuff, we small units get funding too for cool activities...
