Just my opinion, but I doubt the sample group of respondents will be completely representative of actual past/present cadets considering this forum has plenty of active USAF and USAFA leaders and affiliates watching, and they can figure stuff out and connect the dots. But still interesting all...

Successfully enlisted in another branch and enjoys fixing and flying in helicopters. The folks I took exception to using "blue chip" and "recruited athlete" terms incorrectly in context to what they had control over, moved on to "higher" callings. So all worked out for the best in my opinion.

It would behoove this person to get all their paperwork completed and have a plan B.

Well I've seen a flag jump go a little squirrely. Actually the event I recall(and I know a few on this forum were attending), the jumper didn't even come down on the field, and ended up on a ridgeline a thousand or so feet from the field. Highly doubt there was ground crew awaiting to snatch...

With an acceptance rate of 13% or so, a downward application rate does not seem to be an immediate issue from this taxpayers perspective.

I would probably just wear this on I-Day, no need to pack anything but some underwear.

Most likely they would probably fill a late appointment spot with someone off the top secret "wait list".

Take the USAFA offer! If you change your mind later, it's all good, they can always fill the slot in a few minutes.

Maybe it's mentioned in this string, but if you are paying at Harvard, then that's a 75K expense per year you won't have at USAFA. Not that the financial matter is of the upmost importance in this decision, but it's got to come into play a little. Even more so if you plan to pursue the same...

Not that it applies to my off spring anymore, but for the good of the forum, can you all provide what the blue chip process actually entailed. Discussions, documents, etc. I really don't think much has changed in 4 years, but perhaps there is better information on what is provided for this...
