    Jaw Dropper

I enjoyed it when someone asked "what if I graduate june 23?" which was answered "you must be here June 24." Five minutes later another person asked "what if I graduate June 25?" It seemed like people didn't realize this is the military and you will be there when they say you will - no exceptions.

    Time for the appointment thread

Skimming the list I find it interesting no one from NY is on the list yet. I realize this isn't a completely representative sample of the entire accepted population, however makes me scratch my head a little . . .

    multiple nominations

Ironically I received a call today from someone from Senator Schumer's office asking if I needed a nomination. This has been the first I've heard from him at all. I replied I have already been nominated by my congressman, and she simply congratulated me and promptly ended the conversation...

    What happens now?

Yes, I have applied to other sources. I called the office today and was told to expect (Good) news this week. What I still doesn't understand why all the calls weren't made in a single day? I understand how busy every congress-person is, however panic situations, such as mine, could be averted...

    What happens now?

Thank you (Audible sigh of relief) I'll call the Congressman's office tomorrow and see if I can't learn more

    What happens now?

So a friend of mine was called today by our mutual Congressman saying he had received a nomination to USAFA. I was not called. There were only 30 students interviewing in my district which is relatively small. Anyways, it is my understanding that each congressman can nominate a slate of up to...

    New York Senators

I haven't heard from either Schumer or Gillibrand, apparently they're always late repliers (Is that a word?)

    Application Status?

On academyadmissions.com it gives the class of 2013 profile. Last year there were 9897 applicants, 6940 Candidates, 2253 Qualified Candidates, 1667 offers of admission, and 1351 admitted. One thing I have been confused about is what makes a candidate a qualified candidate? I don't believe your...

    High School Language

I would expect languages are all weighted the same . . . But I do know that taking an AP language is viewed more highly than other APs, so encourage him to stick with it

    CFA----> Medical Waiver

I was in the same situation with the CFA, however not with a medical qualification problem. I was max on pullups, 6 min on mile, 67 pushups, 87 situps, however a 54 on BB throw and 9 on the shuttle. When I met with my counselor while visiting the Academy she said my scores were just slightly...

    A lot of questions

The initial Precandidate Questionaire only asks for self reported scores. Your SAT Scores are above average for the Academy, and while your grades could be better, the question on the Questionaire is your overall GPA. Figure that out, and just for reference, I believe average admitted cadet...

    How many nominees

I was writing that before I saw your Senator Kyl example, I'll delete mine now. Thanks again, that clears up a lot of confusion (And anxiety)

    How many nominees

I know its 5 per, however that means some years there are more than one vacancy, and also if there is a new congressmen elected, do they carry over the nominees from the previous office holder? I live in NY, Clinton is now Secretary of State and the new senator is Gillibrand. Does she have 5...

    How many nominees

Is there any known publication of how many nominees each congress person has at each of the Academies at any time? I couldn't find anything and my guess is that they don't publish the numbers but I was just curious. Would it vary by depending on the congress person? Thanks

    Ski team or club?

Mildly related topic: I've raced nordic skiing all throughout high school and would want to race in college. I know the Academy has a group, but from what I've seen it's classified as a club . . . Does that meet the intramural/intercollegiate sport requirement? I would presume that the team...
