I was wanting to clarify what candidate status means. If my status is listed as candidate does that mean that I am at least minimally qualified to compete for acceptance to USAFA?

This year I will be a reaplicant to USAFA I'm interested in improving my application in any way possible but I need some advice on this. Would it be beneficial to get a job in college or to focus on my grades and ECA's? Thanks!
