    TWIC & TSA Pre Check

So this came up on my google start page today ... convenient or creepy, I am not sure which. TSA removes Boarding Pass requirement

Its AUs, not plus one. All Tier1 cards offer this benefit, not just the Platty.

Question's and answers that might help

Some of the classes are much less license oriented and much more degree oriented. There is some commonality and some exclusivity between the two. While much of the hardcore engineering courses do not seem particularly license related I did dust the cobwebs off some statics/dynamics once when...

    Cool Jobs outta KP

Not bad ... I'm an ISM Auditor for a cruise line. I go on 12-15 cruises a year for "work".

    TWIC & TSA Pre Check

It's still a bit hit and miss on the DL only for TSA. Some still ask me for my boarding pass but mostly its just the DL. Some are now not even taking it but asking me to run it in the machine myself. I suspect its related to a technology update. I have noticed some airports are now also...

KP Mids Sea Yr vs Annapolis Mids Summer Cruise

It was an "Allision", not a "Collision"

KP Mids Sea Yr vs Annapolis Mids Summer Cruise

Pretty clear it was mechanical in nature. Vessel lost power 4min prior to impact.

    Law after USMMA?

For your consideration ... I would think you would be a better practitioner of maritime law if you actually sail on your license. In the long run it also may help with business to have an advanced license on your resume in addition to the law license and KP diploma.

    Sea Life & Pay Myths

The Myths are real ... Sailing union gives you more flexibility. Back in the 90s I knew people who worked less than 6 months a year, it depends on contract length, pay rate and life style. A company job will be more steady and defined without the flexibility but the money is similar for...

    Application revoked for suspension?

If it were me, I would do three things: 1. Learn from your mistake. Do some brutally honest self reflection about what you could/should have done different and especially how to recognize these decision points ahead of time and not just as they come up. 2. If asked, be completely upfront and...

    Second Guessing USMMA

Fair point ... my assumption was that it is staying a Bachelor's program vs just getting the license.

Question's and answers that might help

No other SA offers the variety of options that USMMA does. That, combined with the alumni network put KP head and shoulders above the other SAs. Only CGA alumni actually think that.

Question's and answers that might help

I am a double setback. Being a setback makes zero difference to anyone except maybe the administration. The Admin doesn't want everyone thinking of a setback as a viable option so they are going to make it sound like the end of the world. Neither current students, nor alumni care. I have...

Question's and answers that might help

Curious how the difficulty of adding a sea-year in the middle of a four year education would lead to lower test scores prior to attending. The difficulty in academic records at KP is all about the number of credits and the pace of the curriculum. You are doing a 4-year BS program in 3 calendar...

    Second Guessing USMMA

With the amount of time USMMA spends advertising those who go active duty military I would say it is definitely less than 100% tailored around making Merchant Marine sailors. I am curious if this is related to the increased Military Sealift Command time for sea-year experiences? MSC is vastly...
