We also received our first letter today. What a relief it was to hear that he's in good spirits, humor firmly intact. His feet and legs are sore from standing at attention, but other than that he's doing well. He's getting along well with his roommate from Texas, Brandon, but was disappointed...

Another Northern California parent with no letter yet. The last mother's day was really rough! That's the first time it really hit me that he was leaving and our family would never be the same again. We also did a last meal... DS chose Taco Bell :redface: At least it was close to the hotel. lol

We just got some today... try a sporting goods store. I hope we got the right kind. There was a neoprene non-adjustable, but shorter type and a cotton, t-shirt like material, longer but adjustable type. I almost bought both, but went with the shorter neoprene. Hope they're fine!

Congratulations to both you and your son :thumb: We're still waiting on the BFE, although our son has an appointment and is certain USAFA is the place for him. Hopefully we'll get the chance to meet at some point :)

Mike and all, Are there things, other than the basic physical stuff, that you would recommend to help non military appointees prepare for the years ahead? I agree that military kids have a better knowledge and are better prepared for academy life. I know the vast majority of appointees are...

Not a disqualification for USAFA, but don't know about Army, sorry. For what it's worth both of my boys are red/green deficient. Both learned their colors with no issues, have no trouble telling the two colors apart, etc. After learning that they were red/green deficient during routine eye...

A current USAFA parent shared this bit of wisdom with me that likely applies to all of our kids. These are amazing kids. They all have good heads on their shoulders and whatever they decide, they will be ok. Took me a minute to step back and realize that my son is soon to be an adult, one well...
