    Should We Keep West Point?

The man makes a compelling argument, to say the least. I'd say the main argument for keeping it around is tradition based, rather then results based.

    BAH after graduation?

To say that I'm a train wreck because I'm getting married after graduation? Knowing nothing about my situation? How is that "kinda right"? He knows nothing of how long we've been together, the nature of our relationship, our reasons for getting married, or even who we are as people. I know the...

You seem like a nice person. You must be a lot of fun at parties.

    Rooms and Environment

As a firstie in a 3 man room(oh the indignity!) in the grant slums, it's not so bad. Space isn't really a concern, my roommates and I get along, and nobody is a jerk to each other. Just focus on building a good relationship with your roommates, and you'll have a fine time. There are more good...

    The Beast

Don't bother looking over the knowledge. If you memorize stuff early on, you'll isolate yourself from the majority of your squad who didn't, and you're gonna need their help to get through.

    A New Cadet with questions...

Well, it's been a few years since my R day, but I remember getting yelled at(which they're not allowed to do anymore), carrying a heavy bag full of stuff around, wearing a ridiculous outfit, getting yelled at some more, putting that ridiculous little book in front of my face to avoid drawing...

    BAH after graduation?

Yeah, I'm near them, but it's a little hard to talk to anyone who knows anything at 2300 on a Sunday, and the general cadet response varies from "oh yeah definitely" to "no not at all". Google was my first guess, but there was literally nothing relating to my situation, so I figured I'd ask you...

    BAH after graduation?

Hey all. I'm getting married just after graduation (29-30 May), and I'm curious how the BAH system works for new grads. First and foremost, am I entitled to BAH over grad leave? Looking at the rules, I think I should be, as I would be a "A member with permanent duty within the 50 United...

    Go away Sandy

Business as usual at USMA. Got confined to the barracks after 1800 yesterday, but still had haircut inspection and classes today. The great grey juggernaut lumbers on...

Don't. Just take it as it comes. Show up in shape and try to roll with the punches.

    Sexual Assaults

That is probably the worst strawman that I have ever seen. Nobody's arguing that, and I have my doubts that anyone would. Unless, of course, you are arguing that not one female at a Service Academy has ever made a false accusation of rape by a cadet?

    Advice on Tolerance

I'm not usually this preachy, I swear. It's just I used to be in your position, and my little sister was even younger than your brother is, and I know where this thing goes if you push it too far. For all the effort you put in, it's not worth it.

    Sexual Assaults

For the ex cadet, it's entirely possible that her story is true, but...I'm going to need to see more proof than he said/she said for me to buy it. She wasn't exactly an angel. The other one, I don't know anything about, but the BPD diagnosis seems a little weird.

    Advice on Tolerance

....Hold on there man. Your brother doesn't necessarily have to live by your morals. If he wants to drink and have sex, that's his business, not yours. I guess the main question I have for you is (and believe me, at least at USMA, we get asked this a lot) why? Why do you care about your brother...

    worried applicant

Depends. Why were you rejected the first couple times? If you can validate a buncha courses, then it's definitely a possibility, and I think it's something that they look for, but Admissions is definitely cutting back on numbers, so that's not going to work in your favor. If I were you...

Preparing for the PT at Summer Seminar

Dudebro, don't worry about it. I did SLS as a candidate, and am an SLS squad leader this summer, and I remember the PT we did was a joke. The roughest thing you'll have to do is the 1 mile time trial. Just practice the basketball throw. That'll getcha.

    Free Time

Heh. Tons, if you're up for it. Usually, I have more free time than I know what to do with. I get my workout in, do my homework, and then I usually play xbox until about 10:30 and I crawl into bed. Sometimes 11:30 if there's something good on netflix. You just have to be willing to use your off...

    Exterminate the Taliban

Of course not. That would imply yet another conventional approach to an unconventional scenario. As difficult as it sounds, the only way to win this kind of war is to get the civilian population on your side. You show yourself to be a favorable alternative to the Taliban, and maybe the...
