I have no clue but I can say that on the application it does ask if any of your parents or siblings went to an academy. If it does help, I think it is probably trivial.

I believe when vampsoul said: "You can not qualify academically" she meant that that is one reason why not everyones files open... your file may not open because you do not meet the academy qualifications academically. So she was answering to say that not everyone will have a file opened.

My letter with me address on it was dated June 8th so you probably should have received it by now. I did not receive an email with my address though. You may be able to contact admissions and they should have it for you. If not you will get it on R-Day.

If possible they should sign them. But if they are uploaded on the computer I'm not sure how that would work unless they printed, signed, and then scanned back on the computer... Just try to do your best with what the application asks.

Last year the VP nomination did not require recommendations so this is new. I would try to reread the directions and see what it says. I don't think that you should send the letters to the academy though unless it specifically says to. Also letters of recommendation are supposed to be private...

Not sure if this helps at all but i got a letter on 4/9 declining me for admission... which i knew was going to happen because I didn't receive a nomination to USNA (however i did for USMA and received an appointment there...).

I believe that the interview is optional for USMA. My "interview" was very informal and pretty much he just explained more about the academy to me. If the MALO does decide to conduct an interview, they do have an extra form that they submit to USMA for your file, but its very basic.

What makes your state competitive is the number of people applying to the academy, and therefore nominations in your area. I really don't know much about which states are competitive or not so can't help you with louisiana. Rural areas tend to be less competitive compared to urban areas but...

If you are worried about mail not getting there, there also may be the option to fax it over. I did that with some of mine. Just call beforehand to ask and notify when you are faxing it over and you should be good to go (my congressman had a fax number posted on his page for service academy...

It really depends on your geographic location and competitiveness to receive more than 1 nomination. It definitely is possible as many people on these forums have received more than 1. I live in a very competitive area so I was only able to secure one nomination and it did the trick for me...
