The red folder was pretty cool! Which one of your options are you going to take? You seem to have quite a few!

    Too Fat =(

Wooo that's a tank! Would not want to be on the field when he's out there. Bet you he could hit 350-375 in a yr.

Got an acceptance letter today. I applied RD the day the app opened up. So I'd imagine you'll be hearing pretty soon.

Nice! From what I understand the 6th district is pretty competitive. Fortunately, I'm right outside of the 6th! Last yr Price had 4 appointees to USNA, so your sons chances are pretty good. Wish him luck! GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!

Congrats to your son! I'm in GA-5. Had the interview on Saturday and they said they'd release decisions within 10 days. So we'll see.... Did your son get a nom from Isakson or Chambliss? I know state competition was obscenely competitive this yr.

Percentage of triple qualified candidates receiving a nomination?

http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?t=8302 The numbers are a bit older, but should give you a good idea.

    Interview

Depending on the competitiveness of your district, most congressmen will interview everybody. It's to the benefit of their constituents, so unless there are 100 people applying for each academy, its unlikely they would be too selective. None of this really matters though. The fact of the matter...

Congrats! I know GA at the state level was super competitive this year, so you must have been a great candidate!

Average grade to Grade Point Average?

You can either use OhioStateDad's method (go blue! btw). Or go through all of your classes and allot a 4 for 90-100, 3 for 80-89, and 2 for 70-79. Usually this method will give you a bit lower of a GPA, but this method is used by more schools. For example, all UC schools and Michigan. Few use...

    Triple Q'd But Worried

I agree with this. I think a lot of times people will look at the application and say "ehhhh it ain't worth my time, what are the chances?" But more so, are people who are unaware of the VP nom or people who don't even bother to look at the application. I think the combination of the above...

    Triple Q'd But Worried

Pretty sure just like the MOCs. Although, you have to keep in mind if someone at the academy dropped out with the VP nom, then they have 2 spots open. Always something to consider.

    will mistake hurt?

Robehrn, that's what makes a 6 member panel difficult. You won't be able to please everybody. I wouldn't sweat it. I've got a 7 member panel saturday! Quite a few hands to shake. Everybody is going to make some form of mistake in an interview. It's almost impossible to be perfect in something...

    Norwich University

I visited Norwich and was also accepted...here's the insight I gained while I was there. But I know there is a Norwich cadet on here, who'll probably be able to give better responses. 1. I visited Norwich just a few days after they were recognized, and they were all pretty warn down. So...

    ASVAB Scores?

If you score a 1000 or above on the SAT, the ASVAB is not needed for PLC. So rarely would someone actually take the ASVAB for commissioning.

    App Re: Sports

I'm an advocate of less is more. Do not overextend yourself. Better to be on varsity track with solid grades and a leadership position than soccer and track with no leadership position and mediocre grades.
