One surefire way to get your company assignment is to ask current mids.

Anyone know how the first week of NASS went???

The candidates were overly motivated! They woke me up (I live in 7th wing right now) when they ran outside to PEP every morning and ensured I did not miss my morning quarters formation for summer school. On the serious note, there is really no need to pack 5 pairs of clothing. They will give...

Possible to get recruited for a sport I've never played?

There are plenty of people who tried out for crew during PS, made the team, and excelled. As for getting recruited without prior experience, that is practically unheard of.

    South Carolina Parents and Students

Last year both senators had about 100 applicants between the 4 academies that require nominations. I kind of feel bad for those in California where 900 applicants go for senatorial nominations. I feel like those that apply from SC tend to be good candidates but honestly there are so many...

    Plebe Summer

I think WP has a more fun summer than here. Here, there is more of a mental emphasis. Which one will be harder? It depends on you.

    South Carolina Parents and Students

Last year, I recall seeing a post where 35 appointees across the 5 SA's came from one district (not in SC). It matters more of how many competitive candidates live in a district. At least 2 came from district 6 last year. I think we have 15 from SC in the Class of 2016

Are plebes allowed to have a camera?

Yes you can after plebe summer. Honestly, there is hardly anything that you cannot have that is typically legal. go-pro cameras snowboards fishing tackle web cam TV as a computer monitor just some of the more unusual items I have seen around

    South Carolina Parents and Students

There is a parent's club. I went to the luncheon before being shipped out- current plebe waiting to climb. They do the luncheon for the incoming class and their parents. Mids on leave will also be there. I know one appointee from my general region of the state. PM if you have further questions

    Scholarships

Yes, but I wouldn't feel right about going for scholarships when other students really need it.

Pre I Day Work Out Program

Honestly, group runs end up at 9-10 minute mile pace. To stay on the fit side, be able to keep 7-8 minute mile for several miles. You don't want to have to fall out.

Pre I Day Work Out Program

Very true. I got into worse shape over plebe summer. This actually occurred to others as well. Plebe summer- probably around 15 miles of running a week. Clearly, if you are running 20+ miles a week, you will be fine.

    CVW Question

I have hosted a drag and did not have to evaluate him. my opinion, a good drag: asks questions about the academy shows great interest wants to get involved in whatever that is going on CVW definitely had me sold on the academy. I even met the youngster that I dragged with when he...

    Naval Academy STEM program

It is definitely worth it. It convinced me that I had to spend my summers at USNA. It allowed me to view the academic aspect of the academy, meet future classmates, and learn from talking with mids. I heard it is really competitive now to get into STEM summer of: 10th grade-stem 11th- NASS...
