Any 2016 AROTC graduates hearing any BOLC date rumors?

Like the title says, I'm just trying to find out if any AROTC cadets that are commissioning this year have heard any rumors about BOLC reporting dates and/or 1st Post/Base assignments? I had originally heard that the cadets were going to find out the finer details in February but that's already...

    AROTC Branching results in November?

So the latest word my son has been told is that Branching results/assignments should be out before the Thanksgiving break which for my son's school starts on Saturday, November 21st. Could that even be possible? I was out of the mix last year but my daughters group in 2012 didn't find out until...

    AROTC Accessions coming soon....?

Just passing along some info for those interested but have no knowledge of it's validity... My son's unit has been told that they will be told on September 9th whether they will be going Active Duty or Reserve/NG. That sort of makes sense because I remember reading in the Spring that they...

    Showing up ready to go....

I know we talk about this constantly on the board here and only a small percentage of future cadets actually even know about this website but it never ceases to amaze me how many people show up on Day 1 so unprepared. My son's unit has 14 freshmen with scholarships this year. They took thier...

    CLC news/updates....

So they allowed the cadets to make a 5 minute call (on Saturday morning) home for Fathers Day before they went into the field for (7) days. 1st Regt has been there since June 3rd and the standardized testing was done on the 6th. We learned that at some point between the 6th and the 20th when he...

    CLC standardized testing....

I was surprised to find out that the "standardized testing" is done pretty much right away at CLC. A computer printout of my son's test scores came in the mail today. There was a note on there that the scores were also forward to Cadet Command. The paperwork indicated the date of testing was...

    First day of CLC...

Disclaimer: The "patience" gene doesn't run in our family and neither one of my kids have the any. I remember my daughter going to LDAC in 2013 at Fort Lewis and complaining to me (via text message) how messed up everything was the first couple of days as they tried to process all of the...

Any MSIII's with "firm" CLC dates yet?

Of course, saying "firm" is kind of silly with the Army as nothing is ever firm but you understand what I'm asking... :) My son's class was given the dates and told to turn in their top (3) choices on a wish list about (2) weeks ago but no updates since. He's already been advised that if he...

    CULP - Guyana 2014

One of the cadets in my son's group posted this tonight. This was a mil-mil CULP trip. If nothing else, it gives you some idea what the cadets may get to experience... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2mshYRHURA

A *little* info from Fort Knox....

So my son has been at Fort Knox for the last (3) days for his CULP orientation. There are 42 cadets heading out to Guyana tomorrow. Disclaimer: My son isn't big on details and getting information out of the kids is liking pulling teeth sometimes, especially when you're 2000 miles away on a...

    CULP pay, round III...

Contradicting one of the other threads, my son rec'd a call from the Major running his CULP mission to Guyana and was told they are NOT being paid this year. FWIW, his CULP mission is 31 or 32 days in length from what I understand.

    Todays the day....COMMISSIONING!!!

Well, actually tonight for us. Well, actually for my daughter :shake: Less than 12 hours and I'll be pinning those 2nd LT bars on my DD after my USMC Captain father reads her the oath. She'll then turn and and give her first salute to her USAF E-7 cousin who flew in from Texas for...

    Commissioning just weeks away....

So the looooonnnggggg road has nearly come to fruition. From the arduous application process to getting the scholarship offer, dealing with the stress of waiting for a medical waiver, then having to drop out of ROTC for a semester to re-hab from knee surgery. Add (4) years early morning PT...

    CULP assignments are coming out...

My son just found out today that he'll be going to Guyana in June 2014 for a month. No details on what 'type' of assignment this one will be.

No pay for AROTC in October....

My daughter's unit was informed today that the cadets won't be paid for the month of October. She's a huge saver and could weather a year of no pay. Now my son is another story and not getting his stipend could be challenging for his 'personal' life

    ROTC pay freeze/reductions?

My daughter will be an MS-IV in the Fall and is currently taking summer school classes. She has heard a rumor that MS-IV's will not be getting the 'raise' in their stipend next year and it's been frozen at the MS-III rate of $450. She didn't know if the MS-I thru III's were effected at all...

    Better late than never....

We just found out this week that our son has been offered a 4 year campus based scholarship at Boise State. This was his #1 school choice and he was already enrolled for the Fall, including all the 1st year Army ROTC classes. Needless to say, he is pretty excited. :thumb:

So what school do you plan/hope to attend?

Congrats to everybody that is getting awarded scholarships this round. I remember how excited my daughter was last year so I totally understand. :thumb::thumb: I was curious if anybody was willing to share what schools they were awarded scholarships to and/or where you want to attend. I'm...

    1st PFT went well...

Not that I really had any major concerns but I was happy to get the call that my daughter passed the PFT this week. She worked hard during the summer to bring up her sit-up count and it obviously paid off. She was doing about 40 when she 1st started but needed to do 53 to pass the PFT. She went...

    Now the wait begins....

My daughter had her physical today and she thinks it went well. The doctor told her "everything looks good, I don't see any problems". She asked a few questions about the "yes" answers on the questionaire but didn't dig too deep into any of them. Much less stressful than I expected. Took 20-25...
