Since some portion of schedules is known well in advance we offer in a text, "When we next speak we would like to discuss the calendar items." When we speak we ask, "Do you want us to attend X, Y, Z..?" The responses are "yes," "no," or, "your call/not necessary." We then ask, "Will we see...

    USAFA Waiver Experience/Timeline

Echoing the above, sort of -- DS's experience was 6-7 weeks from waiver requested to waiver approval. AMI was requested during this time. Many applause to the DODMERB team who assisted DS when he requested help or clarification.

Clarify words for me please on DODMERB communication

Thank you MarTac. We are hanging on tight. After some back and forth the surgeon provided the needed letter with the requested language. Will there be more requests? Perhaps. Do we remain hopeful? Absolutely. Thank you for your service and that of your sons.

Clarify words for me please on DODMERB communication

I will certainly let you and everyone know what I discover. We will encourage our DS to to be prepared to get letters from surgeons, primary care physicians, physical therapists... but only if that is what is required. As so many other threads offer - - provide DODMERB and the academies what...

Clarify words for me please on DODMERB communication

DS had surgery in 2022. He received a letter from DODMBERB requesting "a letter from Orthopedic surgeon...." Later the letter offers, "Please show this letter to your treating physician." Any ideas what the difference is between the surgeon and the treating physician? He has seen only...

USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Time to insert some sage wisdom in the form of song lyrics: The waiting is the hardest part Every day you see one more card You take it on faith, you take it to the heart The waiting is the hardest part My love, tell me what it's all about You've got somethin' that I can't live without...

    Your thoughts please

Thank you for your comments. And thank you for your active participation on this site. Your input is invaluable. To your question, yes, all is good with the Service academy process, other than a medical waiver which has been requested by both.

    Your thoughts please

Thank you for your comments. Yes, he could visit. It appears he was waiting to be asked to interview vs. understanding that he needed to initiate the contact. Much appreciated.

    Your thoughts please

DS indicates that his AFROTC and Army ROTC applications are fully complete. He claims all materials needed are submitted and that the portals reflect this. He is solely responsible for the application processes (mom and I stayed out). To date he has not been contacted for an interview. We...

Looking for Insight on LOA/Medical DQ situation.

DS is in the same position. Surgery last April is the DQ reason and he knew that when applying. He controlled his controllables - rehab, academics, interview prep, consistent contact with those involved, etc. Now he waits... and continues to control what he can control.

    Army ROTC 2022-2023 2nd Board

My DS has driven his entire application process and I know nothing. To my understanding the only ROTC communication received to date has been, "submit 7th semester transcript." He has the standard, good grades, good scores, Eagle Scout, varsity athlete, leadership. Can members of this board...

    What would you do?

To add a bit of dry humor... DS was asked to provide two pieces of AMI last week. He did. Receipt was acknowledged. This week later he received a slightly differently worded email from the same contact asking for the same information. He contacted me in a panic.... "What do I do?" I...
