    Human Growth Hormone

One of my sons also took HGH shots for ISS in his early teens. This was disclosed on his medical history forms. He was neither DQ'ed nor in need of a waiver. He's now a thriving youngster. Best of luck to you.

    Does anyone know?

Her acceptance of back up school will have no effect on USNA's decision. Any candidate who has not heard yet would be wise not to miss any deadlines at back up schools. Consider it a couple hundred dollar insurance plan. You'll sleep better knowing she has options.

    Rejected

One son was 3 q'd with 3 noms and got in. Another son was 3 q'd with 2 noms and got rejected in April 2009. Took the ROTC scholarship instead, spent a great year earning his private pilots license, hiking glaciers while on a NOLS course, and being a normal college kid while taking all the...

Lowes or Historic Inns of Annpolis for I-day and PPW

For those who are just joining this wonderful navy family, a quick tip. You can often find a great price on hotwire. The only 4 star hotels in annapolis are the Lowes, Marriott, Westin, and O'Callaghan. So, if you find a good price for a 4 star on hotwire it will be at one of those hotels. All...

    iUSNA fee

Used to be an upfront computer fee due before I day. It is now taken out of their pay instead. If he's not already comfortable with Atm's & debit cards, credit cards, now's the time to let him learn. Most mids establish a USAA account and have their checks direct deposited. Helps if you open...

    Uh-oh, LOA gone?

not to panic last year at some point they removed info from the site also. Do not panic, I'm sure they didn't take your LOA away. You probably won't hear of an appointment until after the holidays, so try to stop watching the mailbox and just when you least expect it , it will come.

What is your back up plan?

Great kid mom - best of luck to your son. I was in your shoes. TWE. Son went to his backup with a ROTC scholarship. Reapplied, this time with an extra nom from his ROTC unit. Now class of 2014. In retrospect, loves that he had a year in "regular" college. Hopefully, this will be your son as...

    NOLS

National Outdoor Leadership School- it's expensive, $5000 at least ,demanding ,amazing, and an experience that they won't forget. I've had 2 children go. One to British Columbia on a glacier, one backpacking in the Wind River area in Wyoming. Can't recommend it highly enough! The NOLS people...

Everyone should be applying to other colleges, even those who have LOA's and nominations. It's a long time between now and I day and anything can happen. You might get your eye waiver, and then have something else come up to DQ you. Have a strong Plan B and even a C or D. You never know. Most...
