Texas A&M NROTC versus Ivy League NROTC

If your interest is in engineering, I would not choose nor recommend Yale. As a practicing professional engineer, working and living in CT, I know that their engineering programs are not ABET accredited and in my mind that is a significant detriment to their program. If you only have these...

    Cadet shipping

Indonesia Bound Well, as I promised I'm posting again about the USNS Mercy's Pacific Partnership 2012 mission and my son's involvement as a Maine Maritime midshipman. The ship arrived in Guam and I did recieve a call from my son. Sounded great and very upbeat. I'll be very surprised if he...

    Cadet shipping

Well, it's been almost a week and a half seen DS departed for the Mercy. It's an hours drive to the airport so it was an early early day for us. He's gone for a bit more than three months and packed so effeciently that all he had was a day pack and his sea bag. Me, I would have needed at...

    Training Cruise NY Maritime

Fair winds and calm seas to all the SUNY Maritime Cadets sailing. Looks like a great trip. I always wanted to go to Iceland, so I'm very jealous. Have a great time. Thanks Bruno for posting the link. Maine Maritime also left last week I believe.

    Cadet shipping

I just wanted to wish all the cadets shipping out this summer the best of luck and hope they have some fantastic experiences. My son is at Maine Maritime and as a sophomore will be shipping with Military Sealift Command (MSC) on the USNS Mercy. It's a 800'+ hospital ship on a humanitarian...

Norwich Acceptance - Now a wondering parent

Unfortunately, he is at a pretty remote University so there really isn't an opportunity to take a class at another college. We finally actually talked with a person in charge of admissions, so at least now a line of communication is open and they understand the deadlines that are looming upon...

Norwich Acceptance - Now a wondering parent

My son reapplied to Norwich, which was his first choice school last year. Yea, he worked hard at his current University and did get accepted on condition that he takes a college level math. Not necessarily a problem except he had tried to schedule a math course in this spring and the...

    Any Suggestions.....

If you're staying in CT and want to make it a CT vacation then I recommend the following: 1. Visit Harkness State Park in Waterford - It's right on the water and has beautiful gardens and on weekends often hosts many wedding. It's a wonderful old estate. 2. Take a cruise through the...

    "The Wait List" Club.....

Disey3 and others keeping this thread warm - I'm hoping that someone on the board will post that they received an email and that they're still in the game. From what I've read from the prospective cadets and the parents on this board, USCGA acknowledged through the wait list some exceptional...

    "The Wait List" Club.....

All's Quiet in New London???? Any information would be appreciated. Trying to move forward with Plan B while hoping for Plan A to become a reality is really challenging. Especially when Plan A is so important to DS. I keep reminding him that this uncertainty is a real world scenario, but I...

    Best SA/SMC Location Opinions

I believe that Maine Maritime has the most serene campus, but it is soooooo isolated. If you think Norwich is out there, it's a metropolis compared to Maine Maritime. I think CGA is a great campus and its location makes it possible to have a day trip to Boston or NYC. Love USNA and Annapolis...

    "The Wait List" Club.....

Well, I hope that we hear good news starting tomorrow. Just saw a CG Helo and a CG plane over head and wished for that BFE. Hopefully it was a good omen, and not an actual rescue mission. The winds were pretty strong on LI Sound today.
