My DS received this last year. He says it's the best thing that could have happened. He received his USMA appointment at the end of January this year. His year at MMI has made sure he is ready for the rigors of West Point. Congrats!

My understanding was the cadets had to be back Saturday night and then could be released again Sunday morning.

Glad you enjoyed the Open House/Preview Day. Don't forget The Shack! The food is good and very reasonably priced. I'm not sure on the total number of students who received appointments, but I know there are only 6 AOG sponsored cadets. There were 7 but 1 dropped out of the program last fall...

I'm curious why you think anything other than D1 is less-serious in nature.

You may also want to look into Civil Prep Schools such as GMA or MMI. There are many self sponsored cadets at these schools. Some were very competitive but failed to get nominations in tough districts. A year of prep strengthened their applications.
