More on High School Liaison Officer/Local Liaison Officer

No worries, your son used that interview just as he was supposed to--an exploration of admissions to West Point. It was not the formal interview, and he can only improve. The HS liasion may do the formal interview and your son did make a first impression, but how he presents himself for the...

    Track/CC recruiting

For my DS, he was told to have his high school coach contact the coach if the hs coach felt he was competitive enough for D1 sports. Go Army!

    Direct Deposit

Banks, especially PEN FED are used to dealing with DD forms. They will fill it out and send it back to you. According to the instructions to candidates, you are supposed to bring the form with you when you report, NOT send it in earlier, although you will be sending the initial $2000 in...

    USMA Catalog

At the R-day orientation by the Dean for my DD, he put up a slide which showed the courses for plebes. "Electives," he said "are in red." There was not a drop of red on that slide:wink:.

We set up interviews with our local newspapers. Our one paper is took an article a cadet wrote and printed. Maybe interview with school newspaper or even local radio? Also, Founder's Day is on 19 March--

    Declining ROTC scholarship

Exactly what my DS was thinking!! (well, to be honest, not exactly Clarkson, but he wanted to get that scholarship back out there) We did email cadet command and his point of contact, but have not received acknowledgement. It has been over a week ago. I will try to call them today, and...

    Declining ROTC scholarship

My DS received and initially accepted a 4 yr scholarship. Since then he received an appointment from USMA. He notified the battalion but has not been successful in reaching(or getting confirmation that he reached) cadet command. We have the old mailing address. Should we send letter there or...

For those of you who received appointments...

OK, you have the appointment, you accepted the appointment, you fully intend to keep up your grades and your parents have wrapped you in bubble wrap...(and you aren't in to partying or doing stupid things (pretty much)) So, do you keep applying to other schools? Or do you send a nice letter...

    Nomination Listed Twice

It was explained to me (OH senator) that the senator had two slots available this year and he submitted the same slate for both slots, hence the double nomination.

    Army-Navy

I was not at all intimating that Army "won" the March on. My preference is for the neat crisp lines of Army and while our mascot may be a mule yours acted like a Jacka**. Navy won the game again (yawn). I concede that was the most important part of December 11, 2010.

    Army-Navy

Mongo the game was not the reason I was there and I do think Navy's mascot was rude and disrespectful and the fact that he even considered that behavior as acceptable speaks poorly of the leadership at USNA.

I know, and Navy twisted it and said the goat tackled him. I saw it and he clearly tackled the goat!!!

    Army-Navy

March On I know Army Navy is truly about football, not marching, but Navy certainly had a poor showing this year. I think I see Kindergartners lining up for bathroom breaks better. Also the goat taunting the cadets while IN FORMATION was disrespectful, gauche and behavior I would expect from...

    Books on West Point

Porcelain on Steel This is a series of biographies of women who went to West Point and how West Point influenced their lives as stay at home moms, professionals, entrepeneurs and career officers. I was not too interested in reading it, but it was a fascinating read.

    Books on West Point

An Officer and a Junkie by Michael Winder This is an interesting read and is about a cadet who turned to drugs while at West Point. It is no way indicative about life at West Point and he does not blame West Point for his addiction, but I think it shows that walking through those gray arches...
