My son just finished his MS1 year at Illinois and he mentioned that most guys just go home and wait 10-months after graduation and commissioning for their branch training etc...to become available. Whats he talking about? Wouldn't they schedule training in the summer after graduation?

Looking for Christmas gift ideas for my AROTC MS1 DS. Lots of Army stuff on the internet but I would like to buy a thing or 2 thats useful to him and also don't want to duplucate anything that has or will be issued to him. Appreciate any ady ideas.

I read someplace that AROTC cadets may opt to attend Airborne, Air Assault or other AD schools over the summer with PMS recommendation. Would this option be available after freshmen year and how hard is it to get one of these slots?
