Since there are only 65 cadets total at the academy that are able to be charged to DAV at once, does that mean there are only 100 cadets total per year who can be charged to presidential, or is it 100 vacancies per year?

@99Gold Thank you for your critique. I think overall nobody really knows the value of LOIs apart from admissions. I would not worry if you didn't get one and an appointment is certainly not guaranteed if you did.

I believe the LOIs were sent out in waves, meaning if your application was complete by a certain time you would not have receieved one regardless of your competitiveness. For example, I received an LOI mid-October and have not received an appointment. Someone I know had their application...

Will the Academy notify the MOC, and thus notify the candidate, if they are appointed via a nomination source that is not the MOC's? For example, does the MOC usually call a candidate who earned their congressional nomination but is appointed on a presidential nomination?

So in general academy graduates who just want to fly any plane will have that opportunity, but the lower you are in your class the longer you have to wait for flight training?

So this quartile system does not apply to regular pilot slots, and to become a pilot you essentially just need to do the best you can do?
