    NROTC Advanced Standing

If you're not selected for a scholarship as a college programmer by the end of your sophomore year then you must be selected for Advanced Standing in order to stay in NROTC and be commissioned. I spoke to a mid at the school I plan to be a college programmer at. He said that there are no...

    NROTC Advanced Standing

Does anybody have the statistics for the number of advanced standings granted this year or the years to come?

    NROTC stress

I'm in the same boat as you. What I did is I committed to the school I would want to go not on scholarship.

Going the NROTC - Navy route

Do you mean no scholarships available last fall? Also, do you know how hard it is to be awarded advanced standing these days?

    Got It!

Thanks for your encouragement! I just got denied by USNA so I could really use an NROTC scholarship to boost my spirits. Even if that doesn't materialize, I'll be doing NROTC as a college programmer. My goal is a commission and that's exactly what I'm going for.

    Got It!

I believe you are mistaken when you say they should reward those who applied early. I finished my application back in September. I have not heard a word yet I'm still in the running.

    Got It!

P-Flying17 just said that the last board will likely meet at the end of April, maybe even early May.

    Got It!

P-Flying17, I am a little bit concerned that the last board meets in the beginning of May. A lot of colleges require that we commit by May 1st. I am afraid that if I am awarded a NROTC scholarship it will not be to the school that I commit to. Another concern is what if you are awarded a...

    MOC meeting

Is it a personal one-on-one meeting or one of those town hall things? If it's the former then I would definitely take it as good news (even though most MOCs inform you of an appointment over the phone).

    Ahoy Maryland!!!!

Yah I got nominated by Van Hollen. Same, I haven't heard a peep from the Academy since November when I got my board qualified letter. I contacted Van Hollen's office and so far 4 people nominated by Van Hollen have been offered appointments. 2 of them have accepted the other 2 are still...

    Penn State NROTC

Is O-Week going to be at Gap this year? Do all freshmen participate in it including college programmers? Thanks for the info by the way.

    Penn State NROTC

So next year there will only be 70 college programmer scholarships available? Is that typical or is that still unusually low? What about advanced standing? How hard is it to get that these days? I don't care about the money, I just want a commission. Also, is there a limit to how many college...

    Penn State NROTC

I'm still waiting to hear from NROTC. My first choice is PSU and I really want to go there. If I'm not awarded a scholarship then I plan to still join as a College Programmer. Is anyone here currently in the NROTC program at Penn State or at least can provide some insight regarding PSU's NROTC...
