    Great Lakes Maritime

Consider Mass Maritime and Maine Maritime as well. The SSOP is a great program but it is competitive and not a sure thing. It is only for Deck and Engineering Officers.

DUI Arrest, possible outcomes are dismissed or negligence 1

I believe what this esteemed poster meant to say was Section III of the CG-719B (MMC Application) as opposed to CG-719K which is the Medical Eval report.

    Inland vs. Offshore

Blue Steel … My Bad! I thought you were asking a question. From your numerous posts it seemed to me like you were trying to make an argumentative statement! I was mis-lead because of the accusations made of KP for making a “contradictive statement.” Usually when someone doesn’t understand an...

    Inland vs. Offshore

BlueSteel ... give it a break! Not putting words in KP's mouth but maybe he's saying it's easier to get a towing endorsement on an Unlimited Tonnage, Any Ocean, Masters MMC than it would be to add an Unlimited Tonnage, Any Ocean, MMC to an MOTV. But then again maybe this is just someone...

    Denied Appointment

There are so many other great options out there ... remind your son the CGA was only one option. I've read so many suggestions to go to a community college and reapply next year. Because of all the other great opportunities out there ... remind him to evaluate whether wasting (not a good...

Was on "Hold" status with no TWE or BFE all thru May. Didn't get the TWE rejection until first week in June. June 15th I believe. Hopefully a State Maritime Academy is one of your alternatives in hand! Good Luck ... the waiting is just plain awful!

    USMMA reapply -- SIP/SSO still appropriate/possible?

SIP / SSO is not as easy to get as one might think. Many applicants and few slots. Additionally we were just told last week that because of sequestration, we may lose the SIP / SSO program. If you are looking for suggestions -- don't make any decisions based on the SIP / SSO program. If you...

Low Interest Loan available to rising Seniors

DS wasn't a four year ROTC and has some student loans from year one. Does the Navy have a student loan forgiveness program if they go Active Duty upon graduation? If not ... this sounds like a great way to payoff Student Loans at a lower interest rate?
